Coming from Trinidad, I like how safe Barbados is. You don't have to constantly watch over your shoulder and hold your purse close all the time. I love how relaxing the atmosphere is and of course the safety aspect.

Heard many times about the camouflage issue. We all carried military camo backpacks and had no issue. Being an Air Force Veteran and accompanied by a Marine, nobody said a word. The people were extremely friendly and helpful. It was nice that everyone spoke English and that everywhere accepted American currency and credit cards. Would love to visit again someday.

In July went to Barbados with some of my family. My nephew planned out our days. Did a tour of the island the taxi driver we had was the best. He took us along a road where it was magnetic. That was an experience. For all the years I visited Barbados, did many things on this trip never did before. Hopefully to visit again. "Beautiful Barbados."

Ok so the only thing I don't agree with is friday night at oistins. Do go to oistins for the fish but go any day but friday night. Its open all week. We waited in line for two hours for food and then had to stand to eat because there was nowhere to sit. The taxi driver told us come back any day of the week to avoid the crowd. Who cares they have music, you're there for the fish.

Two hours in line is no fun… We love the vibe, the music and seeing people, meeting friends & our kids love to watch the singers and dancers, so we generally don’t mind the wait. We usually grab a few fish cakes to calm our stomachs down. We’ve never had to wait this long, though. But good point, if the fish is what you come for, other days during the week will be calmer and you’ll have ample space to sit and enjoy your delicious meal. 😊

Thanks for watching! Yes Riri is the best! We got to see her but no meet sadly... We could take picture of her, but her bodyguard told us "Today no picture with her". That year, we had planned to go to Cropover celebration 6 months in advance, and knew Rihanna was going to be in the parade so we were all looking forward to see her in her costume. But something happened and we arrived late. I was sooo sad. But then the next day, MIRACLE! we see her on the beach, it was amazing, a moment I will never forget.

Beautiful Island. Crazy Expensive. Even in food stores. Dont stay on east or south coasts. Too much seeweed and getting worse, Go in November if you must stay on south or west side. The crane offers best bang for your buck. Best golf is apes hill. Sandy lane golf great as well.

There are inexpensive places on the south coast, and inexpensive places to eat too. Just avoid the bigger shinier places and look harder for low cost options. We had terrific meals for £22.50 (price for two people) in roadside eating places

Travel around with locals on the reggae buses. Don't throw plastic bottles in the trash, take them back to a recycling centre and get the deposit back. Take the Banks brewery tour. When I visited in 2004 flights the week before were cancelled due to Hurricane.

Hi and thank you for watching the video! I know, like anywhere else, there are streets that could be unsafe at night if you are walking alone. Although I’ve never felt unsafe in Barbados, I also have never walked on dark downtown streets or on the beach alone at night. Barbados is a safe place in general and tourist rarely get targeted. By taking the usual travel precautions I don’t see that you should have any problems. Hope this helps and happy travels! 😊

Small tip re snorkelling. South coast sites can have contaminated water and external ear infection can follow exposure. Using Acetic Acid ear spray after snorkelling could help control this problem

My wife picked up an ear canal infection at the point just beyond Oistin’s ; I think it might be called Miami Beach; we were both okay nearer to Dover beach. Acetic Acid is effective against most bacteria; and available over the counter.

Hi! Thanks for watching… for a quieter spot I would choose the West Coast, for example St Peter or St James Parishes. It is a little further out than locations in the South, but worth the drive. It also depends on budget. The west coast has more expensive lodging, south is more affordable (generally speaking). Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!

Hi! Thanks for watching. May/June is the start of the rain season in Barbados. You will still get plenty of sunshine as it rains in short and heavy downpours. However, June is low tourist season. The airfare and hotel costs are lower during this time, and the crowds are considerably thinned out. So that’s a bonus. Except for December when I’ve felt a little cold I never had a bad weather (sunshine) experience in Barbados. We did have lots of water in July at one point but it dried up in 2 days.

The West side of the island is the calmer waters of the Caribbean Sea not the Atlantic, Animal Flower, Cave awesome place to visit where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean Sea - don’t miss this if you visit

I am a Barbadian ,for better and for worse I was born and brought up there and left the island in 1961 to make a life for myself, like thousands upon thousands in the diaspora; I have had the privilege to return for brief periods in 1964,1989,2000,and 2016 and now the Republic of Barbados. I don't drive a car and ride a bicycle and walk as much as possible, to engage in of these modes of independent and sustainable Blue Planet friendly transport in tiny Barbados would have put myself in harms way on the ever increasing amount of vehicular traffic. Your promotion of the offer of car rental put me right off returning to my roots,could I ever afford to live there in the most modest of accommodation.@@globetrottinggang

Read the fine print on your car rental agreement well before you arrive on Barbados. One company at the airport will force you to buy a useless COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER even though your credit card covers it. You must produce an email or letter from your insuring company (Credit card) with your name on it and the amount it will cover in case of an accident. A downloaded copy of it is not enough.

@@sejalpatel569 I live in Canada. I have a BMO ELITE card but others have it. The Elite dividend card has a yearly fee but I also have a BMO checking account I keep the minimum amount to waive fees and they charge then waive the credit card fee. Just look for a card with a COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW) on it. I did get caught another time in Antigua they wanted to charge for both the CDW and a zero deductible for THIRD PARTY LIABILITY. The card does not cover that. I had booked on Expedia and after I did look and in the downloadable fine print it did state an email or letter with. Your name and the covered amount were needed. I think unfortunately it was the only one which required it. And it was then too late to rebook another company.

Hi George, thank you for watching! I can assure you Barbadians are very welcoming people and generally keep to themselves. During our travels to Barbados we have seen many gay couples. Last month (December 2022) Barbados became the 3rd Eastern Caribbean country to decriminalize gay sex. Also, Barbados' elected, first female Prime Minister is openly pro-LGBTQ. Slowly the island is coming around to being more accepting of the LGBTQ community. However, attitudes towards the LGBTQ community are still mostly conservative and travelers should be mindful of these attitudes (public displays of affection in GENERAL is not very common). But, I would not be concerned about safety... Hope this helps and happy travels!

The rainy season is officially from June to November. But September and October are generally rainier. Rainfall is the lowest between January and April.

The water may not be safe all over the island. A few years ago, the US Embassy put out a study on water collected at south coast residences of US staff, citing bacteria in the water. The Barbados government denied this, but didn't offer studies to counter the US study. I bring a UV water cleaning bottle with me to Barbados and run all my drinking/cooking water through a filter that will also filter out bacteria. The water is also high in nitrogen, thanks to farm fertilizer run off---I've heard this directly from local biologists who say the government silences this information. So, if you have health concerns or want a stress-free vacation, filter and bring a UV water cleaner with you.

@@dovygoodguy1296 Generally I use the bottle when out and about, both as a water bottle and to UV treat table water when I’m out somewhere new. I use a Brita filter at home in the house I rent-water quality seems to vary across the island. People say it’s safe… but there’s not a lot of data on that besides the study from the US Embassy. Brita filters do not rust.
