When these were announced I found the manufacture in Italy and these things were $60-65,000. Now that was about a year ago and this guy was going to sell them for $120,000 direct to consumer. I can tell you that a Promaster cutaway, short wheelbase chassis, sells for less than $30,000 or less to converter. Quite a nice profit....
@marlenen61302 жыл бұрын
A bunch of that is paying a tariff to allow them to sell it here. That’s why so many other countries can’t get get their items into the states. The USA says we are capitalists, but they run up the cost for some items from overseas, thus people continue to buy the crap RV’s US companies put out. I love the European feel, that’s why Leisure Travel Vans are my favorite North American maker, and they are Canadians.
@wolframluchner53162 жыл бұрын
They price is insane. Of course there is the 25% US import tariff on trucks, but still. You'll find something like this for half the cost - or less in Europe. The Fiat Ducato is actually quite a bit more modern than it's US counterpart, and it's available with modern, efficient diesel engines too. I feel there is a severe lack of competition among US RV manufacturers which allows them to bank enormous profit margins compared with European manufacturers.

This is a nice introduction to the Us Market and will do extremely well im sure. I know Hymer tried to get into the US market with Roadtrek i believe but for some reason it did not take off. All these Motorhome companies are now finally realising that the Sprinter van market for vans is booming and they are all trying to bring out their own versions. The one thing i think is still lacking is the Interior of some of these Big Rvs like Newmar and Tififn they need to start looking at modern designs and not antiquated interiors and imitation fireplaces such a waste of space. So nice to FINALLY see some of these Ducato-based B+ RVs start to hit U.S. shores. If you want a B+ in North America, you have almost no choices that are not at least 24 feet long or longer. Plus, while these are wider than a van, they were still a good 4-6 inches more narrow than most domestic B+ models and small Cs like the Navions. That reduction in width combined with the shorter lengths of these Wingamms (the longest of which is only just over 22 feet and they have to other models right at 20 feet) means you still get almost all the maneuverability and parkability of a Class B with most of the amenities of a small C. Plus, I *want* a cassette toilet and a ceiling mounted bed. It's not just Europe, but Australia and New Zealand as well where most motorhomes are more like this than what we have here. I also love that they have kept the European design of actually having real passenger seats with three-point harness belts, something that is legally mandatory in Europe but not here. Step up the lithium/alternator game and give me a larger fridge and I could even see getting one of these 17-footers honestly.

Thanks for the nice review on the Oasi 540! Just a couple thoughts to consider, that I've discovered along the way... On the MSRP of $145K, there's also a $5K shipping charge to bring the unit from Italy to the US. Also, there appears to be no generator - which allows for those nice storage compartments. That said, the AC/Heater will probably use some considerable amps. To use those would probably require hookups at a campground. I'd be interested to find out more about their lithium option, both the cost and the additional amp/hours it would provide. My guess is that it would struggle to run the AC/heater unit while boondocking for an extended period of time. Unless it had the auto-start feature similar to the Hymer. Other than that, I want one!!
@taurusview92 жыл бұрын
Wingamm says two lithium batteries optional...usually that means 200 amp-hr...enough I think if AC is not running!
@rikdeere2 жыл бұрын
@@taurusview9 Wingamm just sent over more info on the lithium. There would be two 120ah Lion batteries, replacing the standard 95ah AGMs. The cost for the two lithium batteries would be about $6,800. Also they mentioned that the storage bay is big enough to hold a small generator - so that's another thing to consider.

@andrewjones-productions2 жыл бұрын
@rikdeere: You are correct. Typically, European air conditioning units typically cannot be operated on battery power. Certainly not for more than a couple of hours. Even though in the video he says that the air conditioning runs on 12v DC, if it is a Dometic or Truma unit, that means it can only be used whilst in transit in DC mode. However, there is an Italian manufacturer who have developed a 12v DC unit so it really does depend on what has been fitted to the motorhome.

Thanks for the feedback. Warranty I can certainly add going forward but unless we've driven the vehicle, there's no way to include MPG. RVs are built on a commercial chassis so there is no requirement to publish MPG numbers - plus, as we've found, each RV is different, even if it is built on the same chassis as a different RV we've driven.

in addition to the intelligent design, the most important thing that unfortunately raises the price is the monocoque. It means that it was made in a single mold, there are no joints. So there can be no water infiltrations and drafts of air, it will never rot because it has no wooden parts. It will be easier to maintain a constant temperature. No glues were used and there is an air gap. I know of no other motorhomes built in monocoque. This is what makes this vehicle special. However in the US they made a much higher price than in Europe, if I'm not mistaken in Europe it costs about 80k

In fact 145t bugs are too much. Especially when you check which problems are coming with this technic. The area where the fibre glass body touch the steel body from the Fiat Ducato cracks occur and the body shell from Fiat starts corroding. Really beatyful camper but with a big problem.

Even though I’m not a big fan of Euro styling, I do like this little camper! The bathroom is relatively large compared to the overall size of the rig! I love the ceiling hide-away bed (it makes a great selling point too)! I also love that at 17’9”, it’ll fit in all parking spots w/o any overlapping! Great walk-thru Joe…great camera work Kait! Cheers as always to you guys 🥂🤗🤗

Well designed and practical, love it, but it's spendy -- you could pay one of the companies that convert vans and box trucks for half that and get all the bells and whistles.

I've seen these in the UK and I have also seen all the other European makes and models, and owned more than I can remember. The Wingamm so far as I can tell is head and shoulders above all the others in terms of build quality. I have also seen US made RVs, and if you are used to those, you will be bowled over by the quality of the Wingamm. Not mentioned in the commentary were the door hinges which are aircraft quality.

I normally don’t like any fiberglass etc add on body expansions on class Bs. I want a full metal auto body, but in this case, I do really like the design. That being said, I’d just make it the standard Van length of 19-21’ and use that extra internal space for storage of bikes etc and make bathroom bigger and still fit in most parking spots. They don’t have to change the main features and design to to do that. Also, as much as I appreciate the innovation and features like the drop down bed, there is no way it’s worth twice what I paid for my brand new Thor Sequence. And without a REAL lithium system like Volta etc, I don’t see how they can justify $145k for a single AGM battery and 2WD. For that small a rig and that high a cost it should be full lithium system and 4WD or at least AWD. Fiat and Ram really need to get with the times and get on board with MB and Ford. People want lithium adventure vans.
@dontworrybehappy51392 жыл бұрын
I agree that US buyers in this price range want more lithium and less propane. They also don't expect it built on a 2WD Promaster. I disagree with you on the length though. I think a shorter but wider and spacious luxury vehicle could do well.

That was a great review of this van. I have a panel van conversion but love this motorhome, it would be perfect for us. Sadly the price rules it out at the moment! Auto sleeper in the UK used to build great motorhomes with the monocoque body but they went out of production around 2012, I think probably due to the production costs. Thanks for sharing.

Another great review, Joe and Kait. Question: where would you keep the "extra pad" to convert the sofa into a bed? And where is it in the tour? Evidently, Wingamm didn't supply one, as I haven't seen it in any of the three other reviews of this RV either. Also, the driver's side external storage can be accessed inside via a door under the bed (just behind driver's seat).

Hey Craig. We actually had it but decided not to use it in the video. I'd put it in that hanging closet or even in the bathroom if you were going to be using it on a regular basis. If you didn't need it, then just leave it behind.

Overall, I like this unit quite a bit. Nicely thought out layout. Like the rounded cabinet doors in the back. However, the killer feature for me is the table! I love that thing! More than any other thing in the camper, I want that table! With the updated 2023 Promaster arriving with the new front end and newly available H3 taller roof height, these vans are moving to the next level for RV accommodations. This is a great design! It’s a bit pricy, but I see a good fit for the couples/small family crowd with this unit. It’s a really practical and useful size.

This has a lot of great features, and I love that they’re bringing something new to the US market! I love the cassette toilette and drop-down bed with the huge skylights. Although, I would prefer the Ford AWD platform, and the fridge would be way to small for me personally (and maybe a lot of the American market?). Also, I wonder why the kitchen counter drops down on the right side? Seems like it would be a lot more useful if it were all level (at the higher height). Great option though! Looking forward to hearing about people’s experiences with it in the future.
