For the 12:44 Sliding Clips, there is another thing you can do, just press Shift+CTRL(or Command) keys and go to the cut, then you can drag it forward or backward, and I feel you have more fluid control with the mouse :)

Been editing for three years now and had no idea what Media Encoder did. It's so simple, and yet my mind is blown. Thanks tutvid!
I've been editing my videos for a few years now, but I've always known there are a few shortcuts that I'm missing that would make editing more efficient. Watching this video, there's obvious stuff that you should already know, but there definitely were some little tricks that I didn't even know. Good video man!

I really wish they'd implement the simplest of features for the playhead to just return to the point it started when you stopped playback. Makes all the clunky pre roll stuff for repeatedly previewing sections so much easier in other programs. Great video by the way, the background export in Media Encoder is gold.

Great video. So many youtubers have tried to do this and they never seem helpful. I think I'm pretty well self taught and knew all but a few things (the variations on common shortcuts to go actual fullscreen and shift+q/w being able to trim without the ripple delete) and this video was still enough to blow my mind. I didn't even know you could get a fullscreen preview without using mercury transmit and a dedicated second/third monitor. I even have Z shortcutted the same way too, if you wanna undo you can whip a quick ctrl+z.

Awesome video although at 12:22 the trim by one/five frame shortcut to seem to work by holding down Ctrl and using the right/left arrow keys and not Alt as shown in the video. Not sure if it's a mistake in the video or if this shortcut has been changed in the 2020 version I'm using?

Thanks for the tips, Nate. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but the Trim Forward/Backward using alt+left (or right) arrow doesn't do anything. I have the red bracket appearing on the clip (the track is also targeted), but nothing happens. Also I didn't re-assign any shortcuts to that keyboard combination. Anything I might be doing wrong? (also i'm on a win machine). Thanks a ton!!
@KSherretz6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't bother with targeting tracks to use the up/down arrow keys when you could just use shift+up/down. That shortcut goes to the next cut regardless of what tracks are targeted.

Daniel, Need some advice as I'm really stuck here. I have a clip that was reversed (1st nest sequence) and then speed ramp part of that clip as well (2nd nested sequence). I want to be able to take that final clip (after both nestings) and use it for an "Automate to Sequence" along with other clips. When I try to automate to sequence using the nested sequence it sends the video but it overwrites the music (by over-lapping with blank audio) that I set for the overall project. Can I somehow pull my reversed and speed ramped clip (which has no audio, video only) out of the nested sequence and make that result a basic clip? Thanks for any help you can offer.
