the best explanation ever. Usually people describe color grading as simply "I add little of magenta here, little of yellow here, go a little darker here and a little lighter here" but never actually explaining their principles and where they are heading for. I often use an adjustment layer to fix exposure in general and then i go to clip by clip and tweak it to get it perfect. Then i add the layer with the "grading"

Love love love this video! Just want to clarify that this is “color correcting” not “grading”. Don’t want to confuse any noobies. Color correcting is the act of refining the footage back to its original state. Grading is the act of adding LUTs and a specific look to the overall footage. Grading is always done after correcting. In this vid, the grading starts at 10:30 👍🏻👊🏻

This video just changed the game for me. I've been editing professionally for 15 years but always relied on colorists to deal with this part of the process (this laziness is 100% on me, haha). Color-grading alway seemed like magic to me, but you've done an amazing job of demystifying it. On big jobs, communication with the color team is going to be much more productive now that I understand more how the process works. And small jobs where I'm doing it all myself are going to look WAY better! Thank you!

Hey this is a really detailed tutorial, and thanks for posting! In my experience though, I use the colour wheel sliders to adjust the shadows and highlights instead of the basic correction tab. I've noticed the latter is a bit inferior, and actually works differently to the colour wheels. The basic correction sliders introduce clipping and crushing much earlier than the colour wheel sliders do.

This is the first Premier Pro tutorial that makes any sense to me all the others presume foreknowledge of how PP works what the basic tools do and why and how to use them, I have considered getting PP for a while basically because it seems to be the most commonly used editor available for PC but at £19.97 here in the UK that's $25.44 per month it ain't cheap, if I were wealthy I wouldn't care but I'm not so I needed to think about how often I might use it and if it would be good value, not having a clue how it works doesn't help this tutorial is making me seriously consider investing in PP, so thanks a lot for your clear explanation and I'll think about taking investing in your courses too. This was absolutely awesome. I've been color correcting using colorista using the guided color correction mode and then just throwing on LUTS without really knowing the ins and outs of what it was I was doing.
