I'm here because it occurred to me that my wife probably thinks in images. I think in language/text...a lot...of text! We don't communicate so well. I'm looking for ways that I can become a better "listener" to my wife and to communicate in a way that doesn't overwhelm her. Thanks for the video!

I’m dumbfounded. I thought I knew myself, my empathy, my, “awakening”, but without any energy in thought, I guess I assumed this is how everybody used their thinking mind. I am an extreme visual thinker, It was amazing to me how much of this resonated. Here comes another journey beginning. 🥂 Thank you

Cheers to this recognition, @Moons ! I think like attracts like, so it may feel like we all think this way. :^) You keep good company. ;^)

Anyone here with adhd? I'm wondering if adhd and visual thinking go hand-in-hand. My thoughts are too fast for words alone. I think in a mixture of words, pictures, colours, diagrams and emotions. Difficulty is when I then have to translate all of that information into words to make others understand me.

same, and yes, I have ADHD, too.

Thank you, it's very helpful that you 'walk through' each characteristic. For myself, there is a lot of overlap. I think logically as well as visually. I laughed at 'STEP by STEP by STEP'. SO many co-workers have resorted to this method when they're teaching me a new task and I suppress a scream! I *always* need the big picture explained first, which helps me understand how my task fits in it. Great video.

2:56 That’s one thing I don’t recognise in myself. I do dislike noise made by people talking around me when I try to focus and get my thing done. I have had my fair share of people interrupting me with their nonsense and I have developed almost an aversion to human- made noise. I’m an old school library silence girl 🤫🤓😄

Brandy, this is only the third of your videos I’ve been watching, but I cannot wait to watch the rest. If you’re not already one, you would be a fantastic art therapist. Thank you for sharing 😊

I call myself a picture thinker, not a visual thinker. I do recognize patterns very easily. Every word - spoken, written, heard is a picture, mini movie, or gif in my head. Some of course have so many pictures attached to them. Like the word dog. I'll see the first dog i ever saw and then every dog after in blindingly fast succession, like flipping through files really fast. But this happens for every single word. This also happens with music. But in a better mood appealing way. My head tends to make two concurrent streams of thought one of pictures of the words and one of a "video" that pictures how the music "feels" . I do get overloaded and prone to anxiety, panic attacks or just having to get away from ppl. I have a hard time with math unless it's math that i can see and draw and picture in shapes and forms. There has to be a REASON for it. Numbers by themselves mean nothing. Equations, math laws/rules. I have a hard time with them. I can build things very well though. I already have a really perfect picture in my head of every thing from all angles and can easily manipulate it or see any area of adjusting.

Interesting comment. You’ve said things that I fully understand , and some things I kind of don’t, but yet I hear it as truth. I’m curious, When talking to others where is your visual focus ?

The student is the educator, having shown visual thoughts and use of imagination. Imagination allows kids to develop creativity, problem-solving and other important life skills. Adults should encourage imaginative thinking for kids wherever possible. The adult instructor should receive an X for not understanding the importance of cognitive development and discouraging a child’s creative way of thinking. Here we see an example of how schools can destroy children's love of learning and self-confidence as learners. And how the grading system can cripple children's ambitions and desire to learn and attend school.

I like softgel pens unfortunately they dont last very long , I dont sit on a computer chair or any chair when at my PC I have an exercise balls so that when I am watching reading typing something on my pc I am still moving lol even when am on my cell phone I am pacing when talking to someone about something that requires thinking and the describing something is hard to do which is why I am sure the majority of people have always misunderstood me

I think of mathematical concepts visually. Yes, I’m drawn to the more “visualizable” branches of math like geometry, but I also see connections between concepts visually

I'm great at jigsaw puzzles, I can proofread even if the source is upside down and/or I'm quickly passing by, and no one finds 4- (and 5-, and 6-) leaf clovers, even at a dead run.

I am INFJ myself. I think the biggest alignment with MBTI is strong N. That big picture, pattern making thinking. But could be anywhere on the 3 other spectrums. And... I know I attract a lot of fellow introverts. ;^)

@visualthinking11 ай бұрын
I would love to hear where your 30% comes from. In my TEDx talk, I reference Dr. Linda Kreger Silverman. She found 33% of us are strongly visual-spatial, and 30% lean that direction. 66% compared to the 37% auditory-sequential.
@AD1230011 ай бұрын
madam i read it some where online maybe i read the 33% number but rounded up as 30% but even if i am wrong my point still stands when u people are the majority then u people are not that special @@visualthinking
@visualthinking11 ай бұрын
@AD12300 Ah! Didn't know I was saying anyone was special. I made the video for folks who think and work similarly to me so we can gather together.
