Amazing list. I would also add Control from 'Remedy' studio. Even it maybe looks like something already seen, it's gameplay, main character's realistic responses and thinking, combined with mystery and some awesome anticlimactic moments making it unique and unbelievable experience. It will be hard to sequel to match that

@@PlayHunters_ I think your list is outstanding,, but we all love different games for me the top stand alone games for me is the Fallout games specifically 3 and new vegas, or half life 2, the last of us games, or oblivion and morrowind I personally liked better then skyrim, but each game on your list is iconic

Nier: Automata, Nier Replicant, Persona 5 (or Persona 5 Royal) should be on this list. Those are experiences and not just games. Those are games you will for sure not regret buying. I got them thinking they’d be fun and forgettable games. They are among the best RPGs in gaming without a doubt. Definitely above others on this list. I’ve tried almost all of them on the list and it’s a crime that these titles aren’t on the list. Of course preference and all that. But to discuss what are the experiences you get and take away from these games o the list, most don’t even come close to Nier and Persona series. Oh and yes P3 and P4 are also absolutely phenomenal but I was going for more newer games released within the last 2 console generations.

Why do it if they can sell it for the 30th time but this time? (People keep buying it either way) They literally have no incentive to do it, because if they fail it's over, same for Valve and sequels.

Wdym “taking far too long” you’re acting like they’ve been working on it since 2012. It’s not like it’s just been radio silence. They made Skyrim dlcs, fallout 4, fallout 4 dlcs, fo76, fo76 dlcs, starfield, and now starfield dlc. The game entered full production last year, this means pre production is done (pre production is like half of the work with Bethesda games) the engine is done, the lore is done, the writing is done. It’ll be out in 2029 at the latest and 2027 at the earliest.

Maneater is a great single player game. And you get to play as a shark and wreak havoc. Well worthy of at least 1 playthrough

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance does almost everything right. There are a couple of convoluted navigation challenges, but everything else is nearly perfect. Recruiting and fusions are not seemingly random guessing games, difficulty is whatever you want it to be, and there's an entire separate main campaign.
