#17 Wanting Dunya | Worries of a Student of Knowledge (هموم طالب العلم)

the worry of wanting the dunya - nature of humankind ‎زُیِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ ٱلشَّهَوَ ٰ⁠تِ مِنَ ٱلنِّسَاۤءِ وَٱلۡبَنِینَ وَٱلۡقَنَـٰطِیرِ ٱلۡمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ وَٱلۡفِضَّةِ وَٱلۡخَیۡلِ ٱلۡمُسَوَّمَةِ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ وَٱلۡحَرۡثِۗ ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ مَتَـٰعُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۖ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسۡنُ ٱلۡمَـَٔابِ﴿ ١٤ ﴾ • Muhsin Khan and Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali: Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life; but Allah has the excellent return (Paradise with flowing rivers, etc.) with Him. Ali Imran, Ayah 14 - too much love for dunya leads to worry and grief in a persons life - the people of knowledge used to say: ‎ان زهد في دنيا يوريح القلب و البدن not wanting anything from this dunya gives contentment to the heart and to the body و ان رغبة في دنيا تكثر الحم و الحزن And as for wanting more and wanting what is in this dunya it increases the worry and sadness و البطالة تقس القلب و تغير البدن And being idle hardens the heart and changes the body - And some used to say: ‎انما يحسن الحم و الغم من الجهتين ‎١. التقصير في الطعاة ‎٢. و الحريص عل الدنيا Worry takes place from two ways: 1. Being deficient in obedience 2. And being eager upon this dunya A student of knowledge whose heart should be filled with the light of the quran & sunnah then he should be further away from the dunya How can we get rid of this grief? 1. Dua 2. Leaving off wanting different things -> Always wanting things increases worry 3. Trying not to care about too many things in this dunya and not connecting your heart to it 4. Believing the worries in this dunya is temporary and what is in the akhirah is forever and it is better ‎وَلَلۡـَٔاخِرَةُ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ﴿ ٤ ﴾ And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present (life of this world). Ad-Dhuhaa, Ayah 4
