We have here in Finland couple V8 Scanias little over 1000 hp in daily traffic. we have here too 76 metric tons of total weight. I had 12 liters 124 2002 420 L. original power with dyno 428 hp and after tuning from back wheels 544 hp and counted powerline loose in the engine 590 hp. I was driving with truck lots over a million km. Very good to drive, torque was more than smaller V8. Very economical too, less fuel than with the original. All done in Danmark in Padborg. Turbo changed later bigger. That truck is still in use with the same engine in 2020 after 18 years.

@@codenamecordon We have here driving license A for motorcycle B for a car to 3,5 metric tons C for a truck wit out trailer D for bus E for truck and trailer. I have ABCE younger drivers have normally BCE, with normal E class driving license you drive it.

SFtruckerWolf I know, I am just south of the “pond” from Finland 😃 I just wanted to know, if you already can drive a truck and trailer, do you need a special license for a road train or not. Cool to know, that you don’t. I bet reversing them takes some practice though.

The figures are at the rear tires. If the hp/tq ratings are at the flywheel when advertised, then the truck didn't lose anything.

Hi Dts Ros I Had one of those rapid boxes filled to fh16 it pulled a bit more and the file on dash looked better when we did tank to tank measurement it was about 1mpg lower than the dashboard figure

Think 9-10 mpg is pretty poor these days from a truck, My 64 plate Cf 460 daf regular returns 12 mpg. My Gtw is usually 36 Tonne which is admittedly not high with 6 drops along my route. One.of my old Irish firm bosses had a new Scania 730 in for a tune up not long after he got it,800 hp it put out in the end although it had one slight Achilles heel, kept blowing the rad fan n intercooler fan into bits 😂 he eventually bought it back down too it’s normal 730hp

Yea, he have 9.09 mpg, but i am sure, he never even tried to save on fuel, he is going 90 everywhere and accelerating full throttle almost everywhere, if he just try to save fuel, he can get 10 mpg easly with this truck, and after a tune it would be even easier

I found the 480 was gutless for a V8 the R 500 is the same our 470s back then used out pull the 480 500 V8 before they was chipped
