If you recall in the first episode of season one, when Tenzin and the rest of the fam show up in the south, Katara places her hand on Pema's pregnant belly and says the baby is another airbender! Which causes Pema to be mildly frustrated about not having a non-bender, like her, in the family lol Zaheer has obviously been studying the Airbending culture for a long time if he's quoting their gurus so easily. It's safe to assume that he's been practicing being spiritual and such just like an air nomad would for a large chunk of his life. He probably kept up with the spiritual and physical disciplines while locked away. Excited to see the reactions to the rest of this season

The coolest and best intro of ANY VILLIAN EVER!! This season is amazing! An airbending villian is so cool and new, also the fact that no one really knows how to fight against an airbender, especially one that is more offensive and evil, since there has barely been any airbenders since 100 years.

I don’t have a problem with Zaheer having an affinity for air bending since we saw in ATLA that some people (Aang, Azula, Toph, Katara) are just way more adept at bending than others and it’s usually talent or training that comes from a different angle than what’s standard

In addition since he seemed to have studied the air nomads, he most likely learned some of their fightig styles, that even work without bending, like we have seen in the episode where aang was in the fire nation school, we also had ty lee, who had a fighting style that is speculated to derivate from air bending styles. So it's possible he already had learned the basics. Just like learning the moves for swimming without water, once you learned them it's easy to use them, when you need them for the first time. And we should not forget, people have no idea how to fight an airbender, so they are at an disadvantage, cause they don't know what to expect from their opponent.

Yep, there's a reason why this book is called "Change". Korra lost her past lives and made a decision to keep the portals open, and now she has to face the outcome and all its consequences. Very fitting to what's happening right now. Korra also not having her past lives to depend on anymore will also really challenge her now as she has to deal with all these new changes on her own. That imo sets up great potential for her as a character and for the story overall. If she still had her past lives now, her struggle would be different. She wouldn't feel as alone or as clueless as she does now, and instead of always relying on her past lives for answers now, she really has to as she said in the S2 finale, forge her own path as the Avatar. Overall, this particular season is literally a breath of fresh air 😊 Zaheer is very proficient with airbending, because he was confirmed to be a master martial artist by Bryke and according to what they said, any master martial artist can take anything and use it as an extension of themselves (i.e. broom, pen, etc.). Airbending was just that for Zaheer. That and Zaheer initially being a nonbender but getting imprisoned in such an extreme and isolated place already speaks volumes about him too.

YES! Finally the krew will actually be a real team avatar. Korra had her connection to Bolin explored in the 1st season, Asami and Bolin had their moments last season, and now Asami and Korra get their moments. And finally Mako and Korra will be just friends (cause they really are great as friends!!). This season is the closest that the krew ever felt to the gaang.

Book 3 let's go! Korra & Asami time! Bumi air bender time! Let's go! They really hit the ground running with Book 3 & took that momentum into Book 4. While watching Book 1, I was saddened that it took place strictly in Republic City; Book 2 gave us a little more with the Southern Water Tribe, Southern Air Temple, & the Spirit world, but a good portion of it was still Republic City. It was a pleasantly surprised when Book 3 rolled around & the present banished Korra from the city, it meant we were likely to see more of the world. I wonder if anyone else felt this way, or if it was just me. In the last episode, I mentioned how there was a few things that happened in Book 2 that carried over into Book 3, well Korra & Asami's friendship was one of those that was carried over, & I love how/what it blossoms into. Also, at 11:30, you both came up with an amazing answer to a question I was having: how come only Air Benders were being found & why not other elements? Last thing for this comment, Korra needed to use water to quell spirits, but I wondered if that was a strictly Water bending trait, or could a Fire, Earth, or Air, bender do something similar? I've been waiting for you guys to see this episode so I can mention something very important: There's a fan theory that some Airbenders survived the Fire Nation invasion from 100 years before the events of Avatar The Last Airbender & they chose to hide thier bending when integrating within the Earth Kingdom. While there were no more Airbenders once Aang is freed from the iceberg, the Airbending race still exists in the world & by the time Harmonic Convergence happened last Season the descendants of Airbenders who survived are the people who gained Airbending abilities. It's also believed that people like Tai Lee, The Duke, & Teo were some of these people who might have been descendants of surviving Airbenders, & some of the new Airbenders are related to them.

It's not mediocre at all. It does makes a lot of sense. I mean... Is believable that the fire nation was able to extinghuish the air nomads AS A NATION - but being able to kill each and every airbender bloodline on the entire world? A lot less likely. It's expected that after the first major strikes, a lot of survivors would try to run and survive - and if airbender were being hunted, it's obvious that the best wait to survive would be stop saing you're an airbender. I mean, the idea that some airbender bloodlines survived is very believable. Almost expected. And if you come to think about Bumi, he's the only non-bender son of Aaang and Katara, two extremely powerfull benders. If harmonic convergence did awaken some "dorment" airbending potentials, Bumi is less a coincidence then an obvious candidate. (sorry the bad english, not my mother language and too lazy to use corrector)

Also the vines react like the spirits from season 2, when there is negative around the vines will react and grow, so what Korra did the spirit bending to the vines did work but the negativity of the president and interviewers made the vines grow back even more chaotic

Harmonic convergence restored some balance to the world. With new Airbenders now around the nation can be restored. Tenzin will have to understand something important though, just because these people now have airbending doesn't mean they'll join him.

There's a fan theory that says all the awakened airbenders are probably descendants of the nomads who survived the genocide but they lost the ability to airbend due to weaker spirituality and them not using airbending after the war to prevent them from being discovered and executed.

Rohan is actually confirmed already to be an airbender as well! Remember in the very beginning back at the southern water tribe, Tenzin came to meet Korra while Pema was pregnant and Katara said "its another strong airbender" or something and Pema goes "oh can't I just have one non-bender like me??"

While I think I was really hyped at the time ( as I should've been) even now I still think He's in the discussion for my Top 3 favorite villains of any IP. edit: I mean as the season went on and in retrospect. Hey Avatar Meesh and Avatar Dee how you two have been. I hope you two day has been going well. You two got one more season left. This is a great season. But yeah Korra leaving the spirit portal open was not very smart. I feel this was probably her most stupidest moment in the show. So I understand the President and many being angry at her. It interesting that Bumi can air bend because of Korra leaving spirit portal open. I can't blame Mako for being awkward around Korra and Asami but then again he put himself in that position. I like scenes with Tenzin when he's around his kids when they're talking about the new Airbenders. As well his talks with Korra about change. As well with Korra talking with the guy who gained Airbender abilities about change. Zaheer is an interesting villain much better than Unalaq lol. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. I really don't like the first two seasons of Korra except for the Wan episodes. But even breaking the Avatar cycle and starting it over from scratch is worth it for this season alone. Also there is a really good explanation for why Zaheer is so good at Airbending. This is not the episode to spell it out though, gotta let the show reveal some things first.

I know you guys had your issues with season 2, but I would still argue that season 2 of Korra is still better than 80% of seasons 1 and 2 of AtLA Korra isn't the only one trying to restore balance. Just like in real life, nature is always chasing balance and equilibrium. Think back to being in school and your in a big open gym. The hallways attached to it are smaller, so the air pressure in the halls is higher than the air pressure in the gym, and when you open the door into the hallway you get a big rush of air. That's basically what happened. The physical world without airbending is the low pressure gym, and the spirits world with all the spiritual and cosmic energy is the high pressure hallway. And korra opened that door at harmonic convergence, so nature is getting back to equilibrium Korra trying the spirit bending technique on the vine was a good idea, but remember, spirits are directly affected by the people and negative energy around them, just like korra at iroh's tea party, the negative energy of republic cities citizens stressing out caused the vine to grow back even more damaging When it comes to Zaheer and how he is so good, remember that he's so physically dangerous as a non bender that he was put in this isolated prison by himself in the middle of nowhere. Since he was reciting air bender poetry to the guards, he'd obviously spent a lot of time studying the air nomads. He's probably been much like korra in season one, where she learned the movements, even though at the time, she couldn't manipulate air. And given that it's been two weeks since harmonic convergence, he likely noticed having air bending far faster than most others. And he's had nothing but time and privacy since then. It's no wonder he's so good already, though probably not a master Can't wait to see more reactions from you two!
