I just recently bought some sparrows picks and practice locks. I am enjoyed the sport very much so far. You're channel was the inspiration to try out lock picking. Thank you Bill.

... yeah, I have a set of sparrows .015 med hook that I honed down to .008 at the tip. Yes, I ruined 3 of them before I figured out how they felt. All for one old Abus. This is definitely a hobby for obsessive people.

I'm such a damn nerd, I got so excited when I saw the title of this video. Fantastic job. It always makes me feel like I suck a bit less when you can't just rip through a lock. Also, 5 will now be 7 if I have to turn the core around lol. I really enjoyed that little slip.

Bill, you don't need to cut them in half, there's a tool for Euro type cylinders, called the Argus tool. Used to only be available Locksmiths but nowadays it's readily available on even Feebay!

I’m new to the hobby and want to upgrade from a cheap amazon set. You and the Lockpikcing Lawyer have become two of my favorite channels since COVID lockdown. I have watched reviews on several products on your channel and others and have myself between two sets. Was hoping for some opinions... Sparrow Ranger kit - has more items and probably easier to use due to grip size and profiles Sparrows nightshift + expansion pack - definitely smaller and slightly cheaper (40+25=$65) Both seemed to have the most common types of pick profiles I’ve seen you and the Lockpicking Lawyer use and recommend, if theres anything these kits are missing that you would consider essential for a hobbyist and minimalist prepper, please let me know!

Typical public building lock over here. Masterkeyed, soft brass to enable destructive entry by fire fighters etc, angry bitting to prevent non-destructive entry...

You can imagine the manufacturer of this lock saying: Just look at that keyway, those dastardly lock pickers will never get their picks in there successfully. Bill laughs with his 10 thousands pick.

Don't you just remove the C-clips from the actuator in the middle, then slide the core out the front (with a shim to hold the driver pins)?

Question: When the wafer in slot three came out it dropped aside 9:16 and you picked it up and put it in slot two at 9:17. At 9:19 your left great finger picked up the wafer from slot one and at 9:21 you put the wafer stuck to your finger in slot three. So if slot one is no longer wafered and two is now wafered with slot three's wafer and slot three with slot one's wafer, will the keys work when you put it back together?
@Reapsin

You could make a pinning shoe out of wiper insert, to avoid cutting these types of locks. That's what I did for my Yale KM Superior. Just slide it into the BoK (US style) and rotate the plug 180° from locked. Remove plug, and enjoy.

BKS is probably one of the most popular lock makers in Germany when it comes to complex locking systems in bigger buildings where a lot of different access levels need to be implemented - like schools and universities. So it's not a big surprise that it has quite some master wafers. My school had a BKS system which probably had already been in place for several decades when I went to school there. Those old systems even used differently shaped key handles depending on the role of the key. Keys which only open one specific door or room had the plain round key handle you find all over the place with euro cylinders. Keys which give access to different areas or doors in the building had the typical BKS style handle. And the master key had a very distinct rhombus shaped handle. But I have never seen one of those somewhere else since then. I guess because it's probably a bad idea to make master keys identifiable that easily so someone with bad intentions would know immediately that this is the one they need to get their hands on.

Hey Bill, we didn't get the usual close up of the pins in the tray at the end! I wanted to see what those weird dimples in the master wafers were all about. If you see this, can you give your assessment in a reply? Thanks!
@bosnianbill

They were just normal master wafers that had a small dimple in them - probably a remnant from the manufacturing process.

I think he's talking about the key ID that's stamped on some master key systems that show the master set and change key number. You could potentially reverse the master and identify whose lock this is if it's an unusual mark.
