Great job picking brother. Can't wait to pick up my first abus. Still riding high on noon locks but can't wait to bump up a level. I am thoroughly addicted lol thanks for sharing!

I've been meaning to pick one of these up, thanks for the tutorial.

Do it -- you will have no regrets. But you should probably buy at least a few. Shipping is $10 no matter how many you buy. So if you buy 1, it's a $20 lock. If you buy 5, it's a $12 lock.

Hi Harry, Haven't seen this padlock before, but it looks like it has the same cylinder as the small aluminium ( aluminum ) bodied Abus 72.40.? From the factory, they always have one standard driver in number one, and the rest spools. Great little lock, and always with tricky bitting. One advantage, they don't have strong spring tension on the plug - your padlock obviously does. Well controlled picking, good to watch. Regards, Brian.

Thanks. Yes, it appears to be the same core, but it's significantly harder to pick under spring tension... I think spring tension is my kryptonite.

I got some of these off ebay just like you did. Got more than one so I didn't get used to it to quickly. But I felt like such a noob as I didn't have a .15 hook so I sanded one of my seconds down to fit. But still had a hard time even breaking the pick I just modified. lol So then I looked it up on KZbin and saw that you and Bill had both done videos on it and I hadn't seen them. (for shame) So I chose your video as you talk more about its strengths and it's weaknesses. And well like I said I felt like a noob cause it was the tention that had me. But not anymore... He he he Thanks again for the insight.

Thanks -- glad this was helpful. No shame in struggling with these locks. String tensioned cores are tough IMO.

Are you still picking locks bro?
@Steel-Pinnings4 жыл бұрын
@@Turbo_ej1 This was a long time ago. Yeah locks are an integral part of my hobbies. And with that I likely will never quit. I have not posted in a while because getting burned out is a real thing. And I didn't want that to happen.

Steel Pinnings that’s awesome bro, I’m very glad you responded. It’s insane to see a comment made 4 years ago with an active user

When you take a core out of a padlock, can you then show how the padlock looks inside? And perhaps even show the actuator and tell which material it is made of?
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
I'll consider it for a future video.

That would be interesting to see for sure =)

Right on, good show all around. The price point doesn't hurt either. Do you have a scale for padlocks? if so, how does it rate?
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I tend not to rate locks. To rate them, I would need to destructively test them... which might be fun, but also expensive and hard to do at 2am (when I'm usually shooting my videos).

Fair enough. Thanks, and keep'em coming bud!

Great looking locks. Not available here but can get them for AU$55 from the UK. The US$10 sounds alot better! 😕👍🙃

What baffles me a bit is, that this particular version of the 34 series has no drill protection whatsoever. The normal version of the 34/55 (34CS/55) has a Rock 80mm style retainer plate that offers at least a little bit of protection. Why don´t they at least put some steel pins in there?

+LockPickingLawyer I don't like to pick them. they are hard on picks. they are good for use. American serrated key pins fit ok.
