I've been doing private security in Alberta for over a decade now. I believe one of the ways to lead change in the industry is by more advanced training. Opening up training centers, even to your competitors, will help elevate the quality of guards across the board, leading to increased rates charged to clients, which can also increase guard wages and bring in more talent that gets lost to other agencies in Law Enforcement. Until the minimum training standard is increased across the majority of the companies, the government will see no need to ever change theirs for basic licensing.

Great points here. It mirrors what I have advocated for a very long time. More thorough, modern, and relevant training for all levels of security professionals. My background as a college instructor, field trainer, and training manager with a global security agency, I was witness to the shortcomings in training within the industry. I do like the idea of a training facility that other security companies can utilize to train their staff. It makes sense and can be cost-effective in the long run.

A great conversation as usual. Also appreciate the shout out! haha....I know we've had similar conversations as well and I really like the way Miguel placed his words of consideration. Focusing on what you can control will give you greater satisfaction and less frustration.

By developing ourselves and improving ourselves, we may be able to effect a slight change with other guards that we work with and or smaller companies that we work for. Lead the Field - Earl Nightingale
