Fantastic out of the box thinking! With so many channels working for multiple years on ways to refine a rocket stove, you are the only one I'm aware of that simplified it down to the point where literally anyone with the desire could make one. Very well done! Thanks for sharing!

💯 . I've been hoping and praying to be able to buy a good stove which is sad ......but this is genius and will make life easier. I'm going to heat water off mine and use a long pipe to extract all heat. I guess a 25 liter tin can could be used or would a barrel work to convert it to an interior stove?

You're right. I think it potentially could be done using, say, 15mm (1/2") soft copper pipe filled with sand (to help keep it round and help prevent kinking)

Just brilliant, I can feel more development from this smart looking design. Other materials like large tins are ok to use, they work but don’t last so well as stacked brick designed rocket stoves, but they aren’t so portable. Great job for those of us without welding tools. Thank you for sharing Robert.

@jasonbroom7147
@jasonbroom7147 Жыл бұрын
@@sixpackbinky - I would need to build one and do some testing before calling it the "best", but it's definitely much easier to make than most rocket stove or RMH cores. I honestly don't know how well it would stand up to the temperatures at which a true rocket stove operates, since those are likely mild steel castings. I suspect they would spall quite badly, although they are very thick, so a lot of metal to erode before it becomes an issue.

I really love your videos and your enthusiasm! This build is brilliant! I started making Rocket Stoves years ago and the ratio I remember is, if the air opening or fire feed hole is 4" diameter, then the pipe has to be 4" all the way through, and the out pipe must be 3xs as tall as the opening, so at least 12" tall for a 4" opening.

I always have hot water as well as heat and light from the oil lamp. the flame should be 3-4 inches under the pot to avoid soot.

I like to use cheap welding slag hammers with the wire coil handle for fire implement handles. Lop of the head and welding the handle on or use a tap and die set to thread the shank into your part. The old grates from a gas grill and a couple handles make excellent campfire grills.

Great job Robert! Plumbing fittings are great for tones of things and they are standardized. I am working on micro hydro myself, and I have found that "sanitary fittings" are great with their clamping system which can be assembled disassembled thanks to a simple and easy to use system - modern cad software have links to the Mcmaster Carr catalogue which has 3d-Step files ready to 3dprint. Of course this would not work for high temperature applications but for water or air this is great.

Really enjoying your Rocket Stove design. Ordering some iron as we ‘speak’. Not actually tried this yet, but I will do very soon. Forget grinding away the threads at the end of one of the pipe nipples and replace the 4” threaded end cap with a 5 inch size: “Standard weight cap carbon steel butt weld fitting - 5” “ Available from the same type of sources and about the same price range. I will also be taking your good advice and finding a big heatproof knob!

As a side note a well tuned rocket burns complete enough to be CO2 negative compared to the same amount of wood sitting on the ground rotting. Its been researched and tested to death. At least the rocket mass heaters have. Im not a tree hugger by any means but normal wood stoves waste too much heat maintaining a hot enough chimney to keep a good draft. I limit my chimney to 115 degrees f. Trying a different wind proof cap this winter so I can drop my chimney temp to 75 -80 f . The heat belongs in the house not outside. Less wood less work.
