Episode 1747 $20 on eBay. A deal or bust? I did end up getting a replacement Molex connector and getting that working. Be a Patron: / imsaiguy

The way that XLR module is connected to the main board is such a stupid design. Is the XLR module even screwed to the case? Stupid rigid connector. They should've used a flat flex or a ribbon cable so the XLR module can move.

Ya, the hidden screws some times! Some times really frustrating and you're damaging things. 16:00 i often used Toothpaste to clean / repair cd's.

It would be great to know more about molex and similar board connectors -- I would like to have a crimp tool and an assortment of small molex connectors but I know the crimp tools are both expensive and important for good results. Would appreciate a video or short series on that subject.

The German "Knipex" most probably has what you are looking for.

I see that you have that nice Xcelite screwdriver set. I still have the chunky one from the 50's for removing volume control nuts and chassis screws. But those slots on the Panavise base are not intended for permanent part storage! Especially for miniature tubes.

maybe not intended, but function that way all the same 😎

As long as you don't buy more Panavise bases just for more storage! Hi Hi@@IMSAIGuy

You should try Mothers Mag/Aluminum polish. Similar ingredients. Fatty acids, alumina, alcohols . Your “ Pol” contains kerosene and ammonia so I don’t know if that would change how Mothers might work on Acrylic.

I wonder whether that German metal polish stuff still works as intended. The graphic design reminds me of my childhood in the 60's :-)

The ingredients are probably illegal in California by now...

60's sounds about right, came out of a old tool makers kenedy chest.

Is the HP tube at 3:04 "Made in Hungary"? I can not fully see the whole country name, but I think not too much countryname strarts with "HUN"... In this case it comes from the famous Tungsram tube factory as an OEM...

yes indeed, made in Hungary

Maybe remove the connector (both parts) and just solder thin wire.... Of course this repair looks a bit ugly but it will not break again 😉😇
