Annoying paid £800 into my new Barclays account to get the £175 switching deal but app won't let me take it back out from the account it came from. Said ive got ti wait 4 days for them to prepare the app for my security. Never happened with any other banks

Cannot be done. You need to do this via barclays app, yet it's impossible to register for the app unless you already have an account

Deleted app. Installed app again. Working now. First time there was no new customer option, so if you don't get that, delete app and start again

Wouldn't let me choose the basic bank account after putting salary information in, only premier and if i wanted basic needed to go in branch. Offer says specifically on the app so this is actually extremely frustrating as not sure if application got to a credit check. Nowhere does it say anything about this

I ditched my Barclays account a few months ago to get CO-OP account reward. Tempted to take advantage of this Barclays switch. I've never done a switching deal with Barclays before.

@@vkdrk That's a good question. Best tornado Andy. But I think he says in the video as long as you don't currently have a Barclays account and as long as you have never done a switch deal with them before. Nothing about length of time.

To register the app you have to have an account. How can i open one in the app if I can't register? Its the chicken & the egg

Yeah I thought this, don’t click register for the app but the button underneath and it let’s you open an account via the app.

The direct debits thing frustrates me. Why can't standing orders be accepted?

Because a standing order is just a bank transfer to another account. The point is they're wanting you to be switching your real bank account which means you'd likely have at least two direct debits which are harder to set up. It's not there to help you...

Banks need to start rewarding customers who have had an account with them >5 years.

They don't, there's no business incentive to reward someone who has already been with you. The point is to acquire new customers and increase the amount of money coming in. It's like advertising, McDonald's doesn't advertise to the fat bastard who eats there every day anyway, they advertise to the people who'd otherwise walk past but then see "oooh there's a such and such thing I might be interested in" and then they go in. Statistically speaking if you've had your account with one bank for 5 years you haven't moved around to get better deals on savings accounts or credit cards and therefore you likely won't move this time either, the only sensible move from the bank is to milk those people for as much as possible and use some of that to try and acquire the sort of people who do move around for the better offers.

Yes. I've used Barclays for 10+ years and incentives like this make me want to leave them. What's the point of staying with a bank if new customers are rewarded and existing ones get nothing.

@@ol2510 then leave, do it. Complaining doesn't get you anything. There's no value for them in people who are staying anyway. There's only value in acquiring new customers which is why they do this. If you're complaining about them doing it why not take advantage of all the other offers that other banks are doing? If you know these offers exist then why not use them? Who told you there was a point to staying with the bank? THE BANK did because they profit from you staying with them... switch your brain on fella. You're not entitled to a reward for providing no benefit to the bank, you got duped, deal with it and move on.

what does it mean by switchign two direct debits? does it mean that i switch with two old different current banks like rbs and natwest to the one barclays account.

It means you need to switch your old account over to Barclays , the old account gets closed. The 2 direct debits need to be active on your old account before the switch.
