Hi andy, when is the next Ask Andy Live Session going to be on and how can I join to ask questions? Also, can you look into enabling a way for viewers to ask questions via voice chat? (May have to be via a different platform though).

I was with Sky forever and then they told me my bill was going up to £143.00 per month but unfortunately I hadn’t seen this video so have signed up with EE, which cost £91.95 but that also includes my mobile, so I am saving about £80.00 per month. Just wish I’d seen this before I got locked in 18 months but will know next time. Having said that I still get the Sky channels too with EE.

I read an article from YBS that states there are 13 million current accounts in UK with over £5,000.00. The average value of these accounts is £23,700. How can people be so stupid? The onus on Be Clever with your cash & MSE should be to force people to change. I have £139 in 3 current accounts. I am earning 5.60% across a range of ISA's, Reg Savers,Fixed Rate Bonds & Current Accounts. Why can we not educate the financially illiterate to do the same?

i remember when monzo used to have amazing customer service. I don't know what has happened recently but their customer service is worse than hsbc (which is already half useless) my mother's first monzo card got lost in mail so she cancelled and got a replaced monzo card, someone has managed to get hold of the old cancelled card a whole year later and is now on a paying spree in TFL and UKVI which is absolutely disgusting and horrifying. Useless for us to try informing TFL since we only have the last four digits of the card (we tried) and Monzo said they have blocked the card but they are still attempting TFL payments when we have frozen our own card and disabled contactless payments. Honestly I am so disappointed with Monzo and who knew this would happen to a card that was never activated and cancelled for more than A FULL YEAR

Don't know how you are able to switch having that many cards even if some are dummy accounts as for example you can't open a HSBC account if you have a First Direct account (and there are other associated banks). Chase app is alright but lags for balance and the number of times it has been declined when there has been sufficient funds is a joke, had I not have other cards they chase would of put me in a right mess, and now £1500 messing about for 1 percent, only keep it for travel - though not tested yet!. Starling app doesn't have a log out so gives me the jitters, I have come out and gone straight back in without digit id before now. Natwest app is terrible it's a mission to find just your balance. Santander had to close my 123 lite to get edge to get the edge saver, didn't exactly give a great return on £4k sat untouched for 12 months, same on the FD £300 pm saver, returned £136 on £3,600 total max - got more for the switch deal, probably of been better to close it after switch deal to put some time for a new deal 2year plus wait down the line with either them or HSBC. -" Switching pays more than the rates on saving accounts. Yes Santander best for bills though personally it doesn't cover my £3 account fee so worth checking first.

Halifax is my main and it is great. The app just works and you get a fiver for spending £500 (which you can hack by just paying it into Chip and then taking it out). That's the same as Chase's 1% cashback but without having to really spend. Also, their anti-fraud measures seem to be very secure too.

thankyou for this :) agree with a below comment, although you can easily access your money, its JUST awkward enough to stop impulse spending. i have just helped my 16yo son set up an account. he joined the navy young and is on a fantastic wage already, with NO outgoings, so i hope premium bonds will help keep his saving habbits interesting. not alot of options for 16-17year olds otherwise. so until he can open a LISA at 18 i think premium bonds are a top option for him.

re chase cashback, are you sure that new customers don't have to deposit 1500 every month? I'm in my first year with Chase and I'm pretty sure it said I had to deposit 1500 every month right from the off. didn't know I had a year to not comply with that requirement

I have only ever had one current account with Lloyds which I opened when I first came to the UK 8 years ago, and changed it to the club lloyds packaged account with initially a magazine subscription and then Disney plus after a year once my income was enough to avoid the fee. I never thought about having more than one current account and a few savings accounts also Lloyds, and instead over the years I have amassed multiple credit cards, using each one for a specific thing like barclay rewards for groceries, virgin for fee free spending abroad, the amazon for amazon etc.. But since listening to your podcast one of my goals for 2025 is to open a Chase account. I saw my friend use it which was when I first considered it, as was initially suspicious of non-high street big banks, but everyone seems to rave about it. I think I will use it as a secondary account rather than a main account though, as I have good experiences with Lloyds as my main one and like their app too and also having a major branch in my city

Chase really is a great spending account.. But I'd be reluctant to make it my only account.. Due to the fact that you can't deposit cash or cheques into it.. I know the latter is not common these days but still possible to receive them. They also don't provide overdrafts or joint accounts. That won't bother everyone, but it's just my opinion.

I love Chase bank for everyday shopping but it does now have strong competition from Trading 212 Invest account with the linked pre-paid card which they've already tried the 1.5% cash back offer and it comes with a disposable and permanent virtual card! the whopping 4.9% for money on the card makes it second only to chase, if T212 were to introduce the 1.5 cashback offer again, there'll be no contest. Monzo only offers it's virtual card only on a higher tier of the app, but they're the first to introduce the 1p savings challenge built into the app, this is coming soon apparently but it could be a big winner when it lands.

Recently opened a chase account mainly for the 1% cashback and also the 5% saver. I use it like a pre paid card, Im liking the app and features compared to my main bank Halifax, I think these online banks are leaps ahead of the high street banks with there features but im reluctant to make it my main bank account.

The app has a major downside. You can only use it on one device, so if you run out of battery or it gets mislaid, nicked or lost you can't access your accounts until jump through major hoops to set up up the app on another device (or charge your battery) at which point it stops working on your previous device. Also note your 5% will drop to 3.5% when your bonus runs out, assuming the BoE interest rate doesn't drop. So make sure and switch your savings out short of a small float to feed your current account as soon as the bonus ends. The savings interest with Chase tracks BoE and they keep upping the differential which is soon to go from 1.25 to 1.5.

@@ag4871 Thanks for noting this with the app, thats a right bugger and highlights the problem with app based services and hence why they can offer a lot higher interest and perks. I personally will be swapping once rates lower, loyalty gets you no where these days does it?.

1% cashback is capped until £180 for whole year and then ni Cashback. Some exceptions apply for this cashback, you will not earn on - Car and van dealers, Hospital Fees etc. Max interest in any acount with Chase will be 3.5%. I personally use other 3 banks that gives me 4.9%, 4.8% and 4.85%. Look up Marcus (backed by Goldman Sachs), I been using them for over 5 years.

Open as many accounts as you like but DO NOT OPEN DIGITAL ONLY (look for online access, online application and preferably high street access) DEFINITELY NOT CHASE AND NOT APP BASED AS THEY REQUIRE ALL DIGITAL ID AND FACIAL RECOGNITION AND ARE HARVESTING ALL THE DATA THEY CAN INCLUDING YOUR SEX, YOUR LOCATION, YOUR IP ADDRESS AND TRACKING YOU. This guy is promoting Digital. The People DO NOT WANT DIGITAL. WE DO NOT WANT A DIGITALLY CONTROLLED SOCIETY PUNISHED IF WE DON'T COMPLY. 🤬🤬🤬

I will say the (...) obvious: check UP-TO-DATE information, i.e. at the moment you've listened to this video and decided 'ok, I want to open an account 'x' with bank 'y'. Nowadays, particularly in digital business, a product that was 'great' in May 2024 might have already changed conditions - or flopped altogether, same applies to a given bank. I won't say any more, just seek CURRENT information about your top choice, i.e. bank's current financial and legal situation, read LATEST reviews (trustpilot or elsewhere) and then decide. Because the world gets more and more 'fluid' and changes are ever faster.

What sort of emergen🎉cy fund should a pensioner have ?. All the calculations are based on living expenses if you lose your job, but that doesn't apply if you are a pensioner . Arguably enough to tide you over should a technical problem delays your pension ( logically actual cash ) and a current account balance that has " padding" to cover your direct debited bills, but what about other " events") Synching funds should cover most things, but maybe I am missing something here. Last year I had dental bills, and drain/ driveway emergency repairs which cleared out my savings, and am presently trying to build the pot up again. I know we will need a replacement car in the next few years. It doesn't have to be new, but needs to be reasonably reliable ( presently got a 16 yr old workhorse that won't last much longer) We also need to replace our decking before it gets dangerous, as it provides access to part of the house that includes utility room where the washing machine has to go as kitchen and bathroom are tiny. I don't want to borrow if possible, but no idea yet if I can get enough together for these, up front. Any thoughts ? ( uk pensioner presently 10 months from paid off mortgage) Thanks
