This is a great build. I bought a cabinet that I'm going to place in my closet and I'm looking to do a slightly different setup with the shelving, but the same concept overall. I plan to divide my cabinet in half and store rifles on one side and ammo/pistols on the other with 1-2 shelves to go all the way across.

I like your build. It looks really nice. It provides enough security for your ammo not to be borrowed casually. I'd be concerned about long term storage and it not being air tight.

Good build. 👍 glad to see that some ppl still have enough brains to make things work for 1/3 the cost of what is sold to those with no skills or initiative.

It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better kzbin.infoUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

Nice setup, I was looking for something similar but that cabinet was $200 at harbor freight! Bare metal, no shelves, and relatively small. I would have gotten it for under $100.

I found a motion sensor led light kit that runs of USB on Amazon. Might be a good upgrade since you can get high capacity battery bank that's also rechargeable. 👍

Is it deep enough to store Ammo cans? I recently stopped storing ammo in original boxes because the cardboard draws moisture and I was noticing that the ammo in boxes were oxidizing and the reloads in plastic cases were fine... so I'm now moving most of my bulk ammo into harbor freight 30cal plastic ammo cans. its heavy, one 30 cal can holds about 1100 9mm cartridges... but it does save space and I'm hoping that the ammo will last longer.

Thanks so much for showing this. It is exactly what I need. How did you attach the support strips that support the shelves? I'm assuming the support strips weren't attached to the carpet but to the metal walls?
@isaacspoon3 жыл бұрын
I just drilled self tapping screws in through exterior into 1” wood strips

🤣 have those keyboard warriors ever heard about ammo cans??? I've seen russian spam cans store ammo for 50+ years with no issue and we use metal cans still to this day. Departments around the country also use metal cabinets.
