Good review. Natives place 3 cubes in each area, not 1.

Looks like a great game! Thanks for the review. I just picked up the (albeit rather heavy) Liberty or Death by GMT and am really enjoying it, despite my total aversion to GMT rulebooks. If you like the American Revolution and all of the history that surrounds it, you may want to give it a shot, especially if you can find somebody to teach you how to play. Asymmetrical factions, a beautiful map, drenched in history, and deeply strategic without being overly complex, it really drew me in.

I think the cubes work well.

Me too it adds a style to it and it fits the game better since just soldiers would feel too uninteresting due to the lack of unique pieces like the issue with risk. Axis and allies avoids that issue with different pieces making it more unique

People check their kickstart Vikings game. Its running now and it looks fantastic.

At 4:24 Tom says 'Indians' then quickly catches himself and says 'Native Americans'... It's OK Tom, the game title says Indian not Native American and Academy Games hasn't been bashed over this. And we still have the Cleveland Indians and Washington Redskins.

@akplmn And people born in America resent the misappropriation of "Native" to mean only a handful of aboriginals. Curious how offending them doesn't matter at all to woke folk.

@@Spearca All mascots are caricatures. And nobody takes a name for their sports team because its a slur. Strangely enough, it turns out that most people actually *like* the team they root for.

I've noticed in America they prefer Indian. Up here in Canada, the preference is Native.

I played a prototype of 878, and I would say based on that play that I would rank them 1. 1775, 2. 1754, 3. 878, 4. 1812

When was the play of 878? Development could be ongoing. Were the various components being presented as stretches incorporated in your playtest? Anything from that playtest that has disappeared?
@KissellMissile7 жыл бұрын
It was summer of 2016. I am sure the game has been tweaked some, but from what I can tell it is largely the same, sans the stretch goal expansion elements. 878 has a very different feel, because instead of being largely evenly matched forces, you have the Brits who are fighting off huge waves of viking invaders. I would say it diverges the most from the other games, such that I would say of the other three (1812, 1754, 1775), you probably only need to own one, but could happily have one of those and 878 in your collection.

Ian Kissell thanks for the reply! i did decide to back 878, because it was assymmetric and i think the adds will boost replay value. it will be my first from Academy.

J Potter I have 1775 it's a great game but I'm not really into that timescale in history maybe it was cause I'm a brit and we lost. But must admit it did spark my interest.if it's your first academy game you should try the conflict of heroes games .
