I came across this channel a few weeks ago. I’ve been struggling to gain size and muscle regardless of how much I would train. About a month of this show, I have doubled my protein intake to 1:1 and don’t train to failure as often. I have seen more gains in the last 5 weeks than I have in the last 2 1/2 years. I really need one of mind pumps programs! Hopefully my wife hooks me up for my bday on the 28th. LOVE THIS SHOW!

I discovered this channel as I was starting back my wellness journey. I had become slightly obsessed with going to the gym and feeling the “burn” but after 2 months of going consistent 4-6 times a week, I wasn’t see much results. Then I stumbled upon the “Are You Addicted to Training” video and it made me feel so relieved. Not only allowed me to forgive myself for not seeing the results I wanted in my body from strength training, it also allowed me to stop overcomplicated my workouts and stressing over fitness goals my watch tells me is important. Thank you guys for making fitness so approachable and the science of it so easy to understand!

I have been training for years and thought myself to be a hard gainer. I would listen to all the motivators and muscle heads that promoted "go hard" motto. I would push myself into injuries and burnout by going for more more and more. I never wanted to give up because I always felt the healthiest when working out. So I got back up everytime and repeated the same thing. I have just recently ran jnto your pod cast and have never heard anyone preaching more volume but not just more volume but not going to failure all the time. After going back and watching hours of your guys stuff I realized I have even beating my head against the wall. I've been implementing your strategies and have seen VAST improvement in my muscle size 💪! I just needed to hear it once. I want to thank you guys. Please keep spreading the word.

12:00 very informative; quick question, I'm sure I'm NOT 🙃the first to think about this protein issue some of us are facing, here goes: So I use intermittent fasting as a tool for calorie maintenance. I lift 3 times a week, on those days I break my fast right after training 1130am, I consume about 20 grams of protein (sushi or a beef bowl, i live Japan) then I wait 3 hours to drink a shake (20 grams of Protein)... 3 hours after that I eat dinner and I close my window (rice and some sort of meat...20 grams of Protein). On non lifting days I break my fast at 1130am with 20 grams of protein from whole foods and I wait another 3 hours to take my 20 gram protein shake and I close my window. According to my scale I'm overweight, but I dont look it. I drink coffee ONLY in the morning, i lift fasted. Besides my protein shakes, I take creatine 5g a day, vitamin D3 (4k ui), zinc, and tumeric. I know the body caps the amount of protein it absorbs at any given time, thats why I space it out... do you think this is a good or bad approach to build muscle? Thanks a ton
@indigofit4259
@indigofit4259 2 жыл бұрын
This is perfectly explained! Being a trainer that doesn’t eat meat it was very difficult to make sure my protein intake was met. Tracking helped a lot on top of making sure my protein powder was digesting properly for my body. It’s truly about learning your body and what works for it. Truly appreciate all the content you guys put out 🤗💯.

@@sonja4164 Not trying to be patronizing at all but you guys are making a huge mistake that will impact your long term health. Animal foods are essential for human being's to be healthy especially for children and their development. We didn't become the apex predator's of the planet by eating beans. If you do your research you will find that plant foods are equally if not more harmful for the environment ie. mono crops, pesticides countless small animals killed by harvesters... agricultural technology has only been around for 5000ish years while modern humans have existed for far far longer. Eat animal foods. Source them ethically. Listen to your natural instincts. Don't believe the slave mind propaganda that tells you you can subsist on plants and processed supplements. Everything humans need to survive are present in animal foods you only need to look at the numerous indigenous societies to see that this is true. You are not a bad person if you eat animals. It is the circle of life. Be blessed.

So, the main question I have is why weren't whey isolates brought up? I definitely have an intolerance and got away from whey compound, but whey isolates are super clean for me and don't make me bloat at all. Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds due to the glutamine and amino profile, with around 99 percent of the lactose gone? For reference, I use nutricost why protein isolate right now because you can get in bulk on Amazon, and it's 30g per scoop.

1. Should your protein intake be based on your actual body weight or target body weight (i.e. current 250 but looking to lower to 220s)? And 2. Is that total body weight or non-fat/muscle mass (250 total but 180 muscle mass (using biometric scale (accuracy not included lol))?

What i found is getting protein from semiskimmed milk or skimmed powder milk, i get better results than protein powder. Plus getting most of protein from red meat is even better.

Just started listening and I think I’m on episode 27 on Spotify so not sure if you guys already spoke on this but here it goes: Is the powder less protein with water/other low protein mixes? So if it’s 25 G protein powder and you use water is that 8 less grams bc typically everybody uses milk? And if not does that mean there’s more protein if you use milk or a high protein beverage for mix? Personally I still count it either way bc that’s super specific but something I’ve always wondered

A lot of the time if you look at the nutrition facts on the package it will say (with milk) if it's including the milk in the nutrient profile. I'm not sure if that's required though, or if it's just something they do here in Canada

I know this is an older video but I found a protein company that makes a whey protein isolate that I can actually tolerate. I get the unflavored version and it actually doesn't taste like anything. It mixes really well and is very smooth. The company is called Promix. I have dairy issues and I'm super surprised i can tolerate it.

While we're on this subject, what are thoughts on Walmart protein powder (equate brand)? It's the cheapest, best calorie to protein ratio and tastes good but does it really have what it says? You think they're actually using 30g of whey protein in that scoop?

17:35 Adam hit on something here with dairy allergies that rings familiar and I'm wondering if there's anyone else that's experiencing the same bizarre thing that I am. I have a mild dairy allergy. If I eat a few slices of pizza or some frozen custard on a Saturday night, on Sunday morning I'll wake up really congested with mild but uncharacteristic stomach issues. Here's the weird thing - If I take whey powder right after an intense afternoon/evening workout, it doesn't bother me. I can take whey throughout the following day and it doesn't bother me, and the next day as well. Basically for about the first 48-60 hours after a hard workout, I can take whey powder and it doesn't phase me. At some point into the third day though, I start having the congestion and upset stomach. (I should mention here that I'm currently doing full body workouts about every 72-84 hours.) It really doesn't make sense to me, because in my mind, an allergy is an allergy. Allergies don't turn on and off. I've never been exposed to ragweed and not been miserable. Does anyone else experience this? Where your body would normally not tolerate whey (or another protein source) well, but right after a solid workout it doesn't seem to bother you?

"Researchers compared nearly 154,000 people who survived at least a month after a COVID-19 diagnosis to more than 5.6 million peers without prior COVID infections. Over the course of one year, infection survivors were at 35% higher risk of new anxiety disorders, 39% higher risk for new depressive disorders, 55% higher risk for new use of antidepressants, 34% higher risk for a new opioid use disorder, and 20% higher risk for a new non-opioid substance use disorder. They were also at 80% higher risk for newly detected neurocognitive decline and 41% higher risk for a new diagnosis of sleep disorders. The risks for these problems "were increased even among people who were not admitted to hospital" but were highest among those who had been hospitalized for COVID-19, the researchers reported in The BMJ."
