At 4:02, the source you cite about the EV range issue only applies in -20F weather. March is not producing that low of a temperature in the US. The COLDEST states during the entire cannon ball run will only be at a LOW of like, 40F in March, well within the operational temperature for an EV. Come on man. You tried to claim unbiased research to get out of that too.

The Run was inspired by the Cannonball Run, so yeah, the story of the game was purposely made to imitate it. In the main version, you can even see your average speed in each event (according to reviews and footage, i only played the Wii version) EDIT: i played it recently and yes it does show average speed + a timer that shows your collective time of all stages, meaning that you can set times for the entire run, even though it's broken into chapters and stages

3200 miles / 24 hours = 133mph average. But, when you get stuck in denser traffic, you'll have to make up all the time spent below 133mph on longer straightaways. And these days, with as much traffic as we have now, I'd say that those records likely won't be broken.

Ok, hear me out. Everyone on a race track more or less consents to the risk that their car might be wrecked and they might be hurt. They and everyone else try to avoid it as much as possible, but there's always that acknowledgement. I don't think random civilians driving home from work have consented in the same way. Like, sure, they're driving, and they know driving is risky, but generally speaking they don't expect street racers to be roping them in to the gamble the racers are taking. And I know they're good drivers, but I watch professional racing all the time, and those guys still often crash, still get injured, can still die. Being really good at driving doesn't necessarily prevent a potential civilian casualty. So yeah, I support speeding laws. Take it to the track.

I did Massachusetts to San Diego, which is slightly longer on both ends, but otherwise a similar trip, in right around 72 hours back in 2001, three days after 9-11. By myself, with no technological assists, superfast car or excessive speeding. Just lots of focused driving in my '95 Pontiac Grand Am, and typically 1-2 hour naps day or night, whenever I got too tired to continue.

There will always be a special place in my heart for driving the city streets during that first lockdown period. We'll never see it again. Nobody on the roads, no police in sight.

How are there so many people ok with this? This is extremely dangerous not only to the driver and passengers but also everyone else they come across. It also encourages this type of driving to the dumbos who watch the video. Ya'll like to forget that we have to share the roads with each other. You won't know until you experience it, but a high speed car accident can be extremely traumatizing to someone. And for people, like myself, who are constantly on edge about experiencing another horrific accident... this behavior is unacceptable and should be riddled with taboo. Not glorified by KZbin communities. It blows my mind that the same people who say, "protect the children" when it comes to a man in a dress reading to a child are the people who will drive 175mph on a public road, potentially putting a whole family of innocent people at risk of a horrific death/experience.

Especially considering that current high end EV range is 500mi. 1/6th of the estimated required distance, and the power consumption required to sustain motors at very high speeds in an EV. You need to cram the entire car with efficient, weather resistant batteries while maintaining your crew space and tech.

The only way that a sub 24hour run could be achieved would be by hiring out sections of the highway where the most traffic accumulates so that the car could blast through those sections (but it’s too expensive and complicated to do)

The biggest traffic areas would be leaving Manhattan, and entering LA. If you leave Manhattan at 3 AM (midnight in LA) you would hypothetically get to the outside of LA around 11 PM which would greatly reduce traffic in those areas.

@@ollelundin3701There's never a rule stating it has to be "authentic" conditions with traffic, roadwork, idiots, etc. It's "who can take a car across the country the fastest". Sure, "unsportsmanlike" maybe, because it would make the record untouchable, but well within the rules.
