I honestly think these records are no longer impressive at all and need to stop before one of these morons gets killed in a fireball explosion when they crash that stupid car loaded with tanks of gasoline flying down the highway at 150mph. This is **not even hard to do** , and it's not even that hard to get away with. You just have to be rich, have a giant ego, and have a certain lack of empathy for others around you, which I despise. Sorry to be negative but every cannonball guy I've ever seen is the definition of a spoiled, white privelaged, absolute beta male, who thinks bragging about getting away with committing felonies somehow makes you cool. They're wasting the time of law enforcement and putting everyone in danger, all for what, so they can go drink craft beer with their other rich friends and brag to eachother about it? The biggest reason why I don't respect these records whatsoever....THEY'RE NOT RUNNING FROM ANYTHING!! NOBODY IS TRYING TO CATCH YOU!! This is just simply not that hard to do, the **only risks** are getting caught committing a felony while doing it, and of course, death, because you're driving a literal gasoline bomb down the road at 150. Getting away with committing felonies, then bragging about it on the internet, doesn't make you cool it makes you very very dumb. That's what these guys are doing, they're just waving it in everyones face saying "I CAN GET AWAY WITH BREAKING THE LAW BECAUSE I'M SO SMART AND COOL." it has **nothing to do with cars** , it had everything to do with these guys EGOS THIS IS NOT HARD TO DO. WE NEED TO STOP PROMOTING THESE GUYS BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED. IT'S NOT ABOUT CARS IT'S ABOUT THEIR FRAGILE LITTLE EGO. I'm sure Doug Tabbut will say "oh look another pearl clutcher", and that's the thing, anyone who calls him out on his BS, he just has the atttitude, of "Well I guess you guys just aren't as cool as me." What they're doing isn't hard to do, it's not impressive, it's complete beta male BS. I'm not impressed that you strapped a bunch of extra gas tanks to an Audi and went flying across the country using spotters during a global pandemic where you know law enforcement has MUCH BETTER THINGS TO DO, than deal with you guys, I think you need to stop this whole escapade and stick to producing content about CARS instead of producing content about your rich friends who do beta male things in their spare time. I seriously hope the next person who attempts this record gets caught and thrown in jail. I stopped watching your channel because it's not about CARS, it's about a bunch of losers who think they're cool trying to impress people with old stories they've told at parties a billion times before. But no matter where I go on car forums, this dumb stuff about you guys strapping gas tanks into a trunk and going 175 on public roads keeps popping up. The only reason the “lane assist” was firing up is because they were not signaling with indicators when changing lanes... Funny as “for us safety is the most important thing in a cannonball”. Although I understand that at those speed, signaling lane change isn’t really relevant as no one is passing them. That could prevent other driver to be even more mad at them and call the police.
@diabloein4 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily.. it could be going off without him switching kanes just because he was getting close to a line. Think about it, at those speeds it can become very difficult to stay centered in the lane and then once it acted up the forst time and him not knownthe issie he gets occupied with that and makes more mistakes.
@NotaRandomYTuser4 жыл бұрын
diabloein I see what you mean and that makes sense indeed. Good suggestion. My Volvo used to trigger the lane departure warning signal when I was veering toward the line but not even yet crossing it. I am not very familiar with a system with steering assist.
@diabloein4 жыл бұрын
@@NotaRandomYTuser i used to drive a sprinter van for fedex that had lane assist and it was annoying. It would fight me and vibrate the wheel when driving down country roads/dirt roads because the road didnt have clear painted lines so the system would go haywire. And even on the highway it would act up if i even came close to a line at 65. I couldnt imagine what doing 150 would do to the thing because no way you can stay perfectly centered then.
@colinwallace52864 жыл бұрын
There are stories of guys who actually signal while on a track. I always say that if you are making judgements as to whether you should signal, then you should probably signal. It’s like frequent rear view checks. Funny how those two things are often the cause of major incidents.

Firing blinkers all the time is a) a good way cops find targets and b) not required except where a turn or merge is likely to affect traffic (at least according to CA and AZ vehicle codes). I call drivers who blinker blindly "blinker-heads" who learned DMV and not the law.

I have a slightly modded 105 series Alfa Coupé now, not as fast but twice as funny to drive - not a single boring Nanny system, raw, direct, loud and honest. Commuting is a boring, time-shredding chore, so it should be done with the car that can give You the most fun on Your daily way to work, right? Commuting in an S6 would even enable You to drop the kids on the way, something a Boxster can only do with one kid at a time, pretty much like the 105 series Bertone, too. I have the very nice advantage to live and commute in Germany, which makes it less of a chore and more of an adrenaline shot, better than any coffee money could buy. A lot of balding branch managers and confidential clerks commute with an S6 and drop their kids on the way. So, if that does not make it a commuter car, I don't know what would.

Back in the 80's we were college students and didn't have the resources for a real cannonball run, so we organized a mini-Cannonball from Annapolis Maryland to Niagara Falls. We got over 20 cars signed up, paid the entry fee and ran the race. It worked by each driver drawing the start positions out of a hat. Then each car was given their GO card at the exact time of their scheduled departure time spaced 5 minutes apart. There was a finishing crew on Goat Island between the two falls who collected the GO cards, wrote down the finish time and calculated each elapsed time. Our car was the Chrysler TC3 turbocharged Shelby. This was back in the day with no GPS so everyone had a second person to read actual paper maps. We switched drivers halfway when we filled up with gas. The lasting legacy is that two marriages were the direct result of this race. One couple met after the race was over in Niagara falls and the other couple paired up from the guy asking this girl if he could drive her car in a race. She said "yes" if she could go along. Today they have grown kids and a great story of how they got together.

@UP9390 Жыл бұрын
The FPIS would have a lot more room in the trunk than a Charger Pursuit. One thing that you'd have to keep in mind is that different places use different vehicles for LE. What might not get any attention drawn toward it in one state might also end up getting called in by someone in a different state because that person doesn't associate that vehicle with law enforcement because of no agencies around where they live using that particular vehicle. For California, a White Charger Pursuit (RWD) would be the best bet since it could easily be mistaken as one of the rarer CHP "polar bears" that only have markings on the side of the car.
