Leland Thanks for exposing Paul Thorn to folks. He is worthy of folks learning about him. And thanks for all you do, even those you forget about.

I dig Paul Thorn. I saw him perform in downtown Sacramento at the Crest Theater, a gorgeous restored Art Deco piece of architecture. (I hope you get to tour it for us one day.) Paul was in the lobby while I purchased a couple of his CDs. One was his new CD at the time which was Hammer and Nail, he came over and signed it for me - a very nice guy.

Thanks for this! I grew up in Tupelo and met Paul when I was in 5th grade…. This would have been 1998’ish. He and my science teacher were friends and she brought him as a special guest on a couple of occasions. I still have a piece of notebook paper he signed. The Vanelli’s location referenced is no longer standing, but there is a smaller scale version/bistro in the downtown area these days.

Oh wow! I love Paul Thorn and think 800 lb Jesus was the first song of his I ever heard. Thought it was so neat. Years later in the early 2000's, a band I was in that was on the same booking agency paired us up opening some shows for him, one at the Memphis theater. He was so freaking cool to hang with and loved his stories off the stage, but when he got up there I was just blown away. Huge fan ever since and love this album that I didn't know you played on! Listening to it again tonight!!!!

Leland- you are a legend-thank you for sharing your musical talents with the world! Paul is a terrific performer and writer (as well as Billy Maddox) with a gifted voice and sense of humor! My brother Jeff Perkins has been Paul’s drummer for 20 some odd years. Paul assembled terrific musicians for his live shows. Always a great time! Keep playing my man and thanks for sharing.

Great tunes; great guy! I've seen Paul Thorn live several times over the last 10-15 years. Always a great show. He's also very interactive with fans afterwards. Stays around until the last fan gets a pic with him or an item of merch is signed. Thanks for sharing & if readers like this, check out his other albums...fun stuff! 😎

Paul Thorn is certainly worth a second listen. In Australia we will work with whoever wins the election but as a Free Trading Nation we would prefer not to negotiate with Trump over tariffs, however I believe common sense will prevail and Kamala Harris will make a great First Female President!

Hey Leland, he really dug you! Interview with Paul Thorn, ten years ago almost to the day: Question: Who would you like in your rock ‘n’ roll heaven band? Paul Thorne: The band I have, they’re as good as anyone in the world. Aside from them, Malcolm Young from AC/DC on rhythm guitar, and on lead guitar, probably Jeff Beck. Leland Sklar on bass. John Bonham on drums, and on keyboard, probably Liberace-he was very versatile; he could do anything. Backup singers: the McCrary Sisters; they’re already on my album, but you can’t beat them. - Elmore Magazine

We may be at a precipice that will change the way many Americans will go about how they will live. In eight years a dark side of nationalism mixed with christian nationalism has coalesced while what was the Democratic Party under Franklin D. Roosevelt and his work to correct capitalism from its greed has now been erased. In its place we are now guided by oligarchies and their way to see and shape the world. “You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.” Rene Daumal
