Yesterday I was able to find a Gen2 Magnum in a stack of Gen3i Magnum’s. I grew up with open sights. I wasn’t happy to learn that GAMO got rid of the open sights on the Gen3i’s. I was able to pick it up for $249.99.

Hello Ben, In regards to those GAMO rifles, I heard that the rifles are not the problem; but rather, it has been the quality of the riflescopes that come with them. In fact, many new owners switch them out for higher quality ones; and once they do, they are perfectly pleased with the results of their shooting! ... That's of course if you exercise regularly! Because breaking the barrel on these rifles is not for any weaklings!

I weight around 57 kg and can shoot my gamo magnum all day long, it's not that hard. What's really hard is shooting a powerful springer precisely. I don't think, it's the scope, it's most likely the wrong technique. On the plus side, that hold sensitivity really points out bad habits.That's good for learning how to do it right. If you can shoot a springer accurately, your group will be pretty much one hole with a proper pcp.

Bought the Gen3i .177 caliber recently. Going into it knowing that really the only major complaint about this rifle was the Gamo scope that came with the rifle. No turret/adjustment knobs. The other was no front sights. I am scope guy so, not a deal breaker. Some had no problem with the scope, and some did. I had issues with the scope shooting high. I had made some little shims to slide in between the front ring and the front of the scope. I started bringing down the shot pattern. I had intentions of replacing the scope when I bought it, so no big deal. Even when my shoots were high, they had a nice grouping at 30 yards. The break barrel does require I think about 40/45 pds of pressure to charge it. Overall, I am very pleased with rifle.

I agree on your findings..Here in Australia..we can only buy the gamo magnums in gen 1...we never got the gen 2 much less gen 3..I have both in gen 1..they are fun and the 177 is more accurate and pellets are exactly half the price of 22 pellets. $15 a tin of 500 in 177 and $15 for a tin of 250 in 22.. I enjoy the challenge of shooting them compared to my 2 gamo gas ram models, the roadster gen 2 in 22 cal and the speedster gen 2 in 177. Both these gas ram models being significantly more accurate..probably because they are so much easier to shoot..no herky jerky recoil and much easier to cock..really great guns all of them, but all quite different...and the difference and the challenge that brings, is where the fun is at for me

Dude here in the U.S. is the exact opposite, people have purchased the Gen2 because it still comes with sights and are being shipped Gen3 instead, even if the later is a bit more expensive. I think the Gen2 aren't even being made anymore.

@@indigocloud8408 yeah...ok..dont know what the importer is really doing here..wether they can't get stock, or maybe the market just isnt big enough, but the available gamo range is small..no gen 3 in anything . The gen 2 10 shot mechanism definitely works better in both my gas ram models, both have open sights but come with a fixed 4 power scope..the front sight fell of my new 177 and fell on the floor after about 6 shots 😅😅 I use them mainly inside my shed with a 19 meter shooting range endless hours of fun shooting at tiny targets like 22 magnum shell cases etc..I really enjoy all 4 gamos and Im loo,ing to geet into pcp with a top shelf FX.. I find myself shooting at lots and lots of various ranges.. also I diesel my pellets regularly. WD-40 soak and then patroleum injected in the rear via a small syringe and wiped smooth with your thumb directly after loading the breech. Smacks hard and at 125 yards shooting at my pond, it decreases my pellets/bullet drop by two vertical feet or so consistently

My Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 2 in .22 seems to eat whatever dovetail to picatinny mount I put on. It kicks the hell out of everything I put on there. Stop pins bent or cracked in half... rails sliced like an orange peel. It shoots really hard and I love it, but man.. no mount survives this thing. Gamo, if you are reading this.. please mill a 1913/Picatinny Rail on the receiver of these rifles. They should come with that rail from the factory and not with that weird dovetail they come with.

Hello! Very good video. Can you please make a video and more different ballistic gel pellets? I have a gamo black cat 1400 .177 and can't decide if I should buy the .177 or the .22 (I won't be hunting with it). And another question. Are these magnums stronger in the US than in the EU at full power? And should I prefer gen 2 over gen 3? Tested the .22 gen 2 at a friend's today. I tested it with various specialty pellets like Elko GREEN EXPRESS Diabolo 0.67g, exploding pellets Kvintor Diabolo FLASH and Metalmags. Then I shot equivalent pellets like these out of my black cat 1400 and for example the .177 exploding Kvintor Phantom pellets did very little damage while the .22 Flash went through a 2cm wooden plate and nearly did a 2mm aluminum plate. Elko were completely insane. It shot through a 2 cm wooden board and then another. With the aluminum plate, it went like a knife through butter.

All you have to do is gently pry it out and then reinstall it and the little spring. My new Fusion Gen 3i arrived with the little clip pushed down like that. Evidently shipping people are tossing them around pretty good. As for accuracy in the new Gamo rifles, my new Fusion is in the same class as any HW rifle. I love it. If I do my part and keep the hold and trigger control the same, a half inch group at 50 yards is possible with the Predator GTO. Of course the rifle is always more accurate than myself. You really don’t want a pellet to break the sound barrier. Accuracy can be destroyed when the pellet goes trans and then sub sonic. The 22cal will break the sound barrier, so any “speed advantages” the 177 can show are pretty worthless. If you are shooting pellet above sound barrier then you never want it to go subsonic. So a super sonic 177 would be limited to ranges where it can never drop below the sound barrier. Why would you ever want that! 22cal all day!

When we first shot our .177 it was loud like a regular 22 rifle, my question is should I lube it? I read somewhere not to dry shoot it but I’m not sure if that meant don’t shoot with no pellets or not to Shoot without lube?? Thanks

You need a heavier pellet. My 177 likes 15-16 grain. Min 10 grain to not break the sound barrier and get that crack.
@klingerlurentt

I saw that you have to break the barrel each shot. I thought you could shoot several times by breaking the barrel once. Also, I saw in the package that Gen 3i is 1300 fps for .177 and 1000 fps for .22. Is it wrong advertisement, or you don't have the gen 3i ?
@ShootingGearReviews

Velocity will be more with lighter pellet and less with heavier pellet. For those high numbers the manufacturer uses a led free pellet that is very light. Yes, you have the break the barrel each shot. It's that way on all break barrels.

Gamo forgot that they are competing for our dollars against other companies with good or better models. On top of that, the world is now in an economic depression and people need a decent affordable hunting airgun with iron sights AND a scope for distance. I'm really surprised that Gamo is dropping the ball this year with the 2022 models. The Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 2's were already a proven platform because of the iron sights. JC from Airgun Detectives said that an iron sight Gen 3i version with them would be coming soon, but so far, no go. People want the iron sights. Sure the improved feed system is good but without iron sights you have no backup WHEN, NOT IF, the Magnum recoil busts the scopes. Besides, a lot of us choose to shoot open sights more than with scopes. Not all of us need or want to shoot distance. And sound suppression should also be standard. The Gamo Arrow and the Urban are also big misses. Regulate them!!! The Arrow has back up iron sights but the fpe is lacking. And the range is lacking. The Urban has no iron sights, the magazines are way too expensive, you need to buy an additional fill probe to gas it up, and the air cylinder capacity is way less than comparable priced platforms. This year's offerings will not sell well even at lowered prices because the value just isn't there. Iron sights need to be standard on all guns. Cheap additional magazines should be standard on all guns. Package all guns with three magazines. And stop putting out the cheap low quality scopes. And lower the price of the scopeless gun so that we can afford to buy a decent scope or some decent ammo. Just ask anyone. Would they prefer a 1) stock airgun with sound suppression and iron sights and three magazines as standard with a cheaper price tag (my suggestion) Or 2) a stock airgun with sound suppression, iron sights, one magazine, and an inferior scope that will eventually break due to recoil, (Gen 2's) Or 3) a stock airgun with sound suppression, one magazine, no iron sights, and an inferior scope that will eventually break due to recoil?(Gen 3is) With PCPs, if you want to make sales, all guns should have a decent air cylinder capacity, at least 250 cc, or enough capacity for six magazines on a full tank, and always include with the proper connector. If you want to add bells and whistles, just put together a hunters pack; 1) decent 4-12x44 AO scope rated for Magnum springers, for people who want to upgrade their scopes. 2) SLING 3) BIPOD 4) LASER/LIGHT COMBO ATTACHED TO FRONT SCOPE RING 5) CARRYING CASE 6) DECENT HEAVY PELLETS OR SLUGS. 7) A Hunter Orange cap AND light breathable mesh vest. In that order of importance. Gamo, If you are listening, make the changes. Your Swarm Magnum and Swarm Fusion Gen 2s were great already. Just adding a couple of extra magazines would have been fine. But since you already changed the magazine, BRING BACK THE IRON SIGHTS.

I appreciate you watching the video and participating but I’m not even sure what to say. I think the arrow is freakin awesome and doesn’t need a regulator. I think you are kinda just complaining unnecessarily. the new Magnums are both awesome also. did you not see the accuracy and power they give. If you want open sights get the Gen one or two or the new .25 cal. 👍

@@ShootingGearReviews Hey Ben, Thanks for your prompt reply. It shows that you still actually read the comments and care about your readers' opinion, despite the fact that you already have tens of thousands of subscribers. However, I think you misread the tone of my comment. I am in fact, a Gamo fan boy. Of my 16 airguns, 9 are Gamos, the others are Crosmans, and an Umarex. I bought my last four Gamos based partly on YOUR reviews of the Swarm Magnum Gen 2 but was actually sent the Gen 3i's. I have also been a huge fan of yours and have been a subscriber of yours for probably about two and a half years, and have watched nearly all of your videos if not all. If you look back on the comments of your videos you will find a lot of comments I made, and many of which you even responded to. If you check out The Dollar Sportsman, Oh Shoot, both of Airgun Angie and Rick Eutsler's channels, Pyramid Air, Airgun Depot, Airgun Detectives, Airgun Evolution, Hunt Shoot Live, Dr. Russ' Airgun Adventures, Airgun Evolution, Raj Iguana Man, Python Cowboy, and at least a half dozen more other channels and read their comments on video reviews of the Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 2's or on other airgun platforms, appropriate hunting effective ranges and pellet weights, slugs etc., you will also see many of my questions and comments. I do my research. I don't just go out and spend my money on the cheapest crap, I spend it on good quality durable products that will last and have a good company standing behind them with good customer service. I put my money where my mouth is literally. Of the roughly five thousand dollars I have spent on airgun shooting and hunting supplies over half has been spent on Gamo products. If you check with Cabela's and Gamo, you can verify everything I just said. And if you watch other channels of independent reviews on pellets or scopes you will also be able to verify other people's low opinion of light pellets in Magnum break barrel airguns and the damage Magnum airguns do to scopes. Hence, the reason why having iron sights is so important. And in response to your comment about the iron sights, the Gen 1 Swarm Magnum has no iron sights, that's the main reason for the new horizontal magazine feed system and the open sights addition system, and the Gen 2s are no longer available. Regarding the accuracy and power of the new Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 3i in both calibers, rewatch your old videos along with the shooting videos of other channels. You will see that YOU SHOOT the previous Gen 2s more accurately and they have the same if not more power. And you also shoot some incredible videos with open sights, including the Squirrel Master Classic. But you can't shoot the Gen 3i's open sights, (without a scope) accurately at all at either distance. Just try shooting either Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 3i without a scope at 25 or 50 yards and post the video. If I'm wrong, please accept my apologies. If I'm right, please forward this comment to Gamo management and design. On their website, under parts, the hooded Front Sight assembly and rear sight can still be purchased. They could have just included it on the Gen 3i's. Maybe it was just an oversight. Regarding moving up to a. 25 Gamo Magnum, that presently doesn't exist in a Swarm version. But just for the sake of argument, I choose not to because; 1) there is negligible benefit/increase in fpe 2) there are fewer selections/options of good quality pellets or slugs at the time of this video, 3) having one type of platform and ammunition, for simplicity sake and redundancy 4) there are few if any small game animals that I can shoot in the ear hole for an ethical humane harvest with a .25 that will survive a .22 5) the cost of .25 pellets and slugs is higher 6) go to Walmart or Dick's and look for .22 vs .25 pellets or slugs. Do you even find ANY .25? You see, I am a middle aged man who is just getting back into hunting because I have a young son and because I am now semi retired and on a fixed income. My money has to go farther, otherwise I have to not just cut down on expenses, I may have to cut out on something, so I have to look for the best bang for the buck. Pun intended. I am also a small business owner. I have a small pesting company that I am starting during an economic downturn, and I also used to manage older rental properties, hence my experience with pesting problems. So I have a little bit of experience and I'm not just talking out of my ass. What I suggest is just a suggestion. Gamo hasn't given a shit about them thus far, so I don't expect that to change anytime soon. However, I thought that you might be a little more open minded because it seemed to me at least, that you did take video requests, and that you did do head to head comparisons, and you were open to constructive criticism and have a little bit of input or influence, so I thought that you might pass my suggestions along. If you don't think they are valid, check out Pyramyd Air or Crosman websites and you can verify for yourself. There are plenty of budget pcp airguns with more capacity, some are regulated, and at comparable price points with more magazines. Again, I AM JUST POINTING OUT THE OBVIOUS, that EVERYONE ELSE WILL FIND OUT, if they just do a little research. And again, I would like to remind you that I am a Gamo fan boy. I was only making observations and suggestions. I think Gamo could be an even more successful company than they already are, and wish only the best for them and you. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

@@paulkarkorian6377 First of all, thoroughly clean your barrel and then stop using light weight hard alloy pellets that travel at hyper velocities(those pellets are too light and often more susceptible to instability during flight by the sonic wave produced by the powerplant), and check out James' numerous videos on his two KZbin channels AAA and STKO. All About Airguns and Shoot To Kill Outdoors is all about pellet guns and gets into the nitty gritty of ballistics, fruit, gel, meat, wood, coconuts, and paper plates and other targets and mediums for penetration tests at varied distances and fpe and chrony tests. He compares .177 to .22 and .22lr. a lot. He is also an engineer and looks at a lot of technical aspects regarding the actual platforms. Most of it I can follow but don't exactly understand, so I'm not going to even try to bull shit my way through trying to explain it. Watch them for yourself. They are well worth your time and you will not only gain a ton of information, you will become a much better airgunner. James also gets into inspecting for damaged skirts, head size consistency sorting, and washing and oiling pellets, single loading and deeply seating pellets. I know that kind of defeats the purpose of the Swarm Mechanism, but that might be the very thing that gives you great performance. If all that doesn't work to improve your groups, try using soft heavy lead pellets. Your gun might not even like pellets. So start off with cheap Crosman or Daisy pellets to lead or season the barrel before you spend a lot of money on JSB, H&N, or on slugs. Speed doesn't always transfer into accuracy. Remember that head shots, wound size, penetration and energy dumps kill. Always try for inside the ear hole and "Aim Small, Miss Small." Jim Chapman also has a video on pellets and slugs. And there are some good videos in general on the Pyramyd Air KZbin channel by Tom Gaylord, Jim Chapman, Rick Eutsler, and Rossi on pellet guns in general. I don't have as much experience as most of the guys I've mentioned in the above posts or this post. I only pest and harvest small game at closer distances. The only reason I bought the Swarm Magnum was so that I would have enough fpe for ethical harvests/kill shots and quick follow up shots if needed. I have pretty bad eyesight so having iron sights is a huge deal, and I don't want to set a bad example for my kids who are just getting into shooting and hunting. Some day my guns will be theirs and I want them to also have the flexibility to shoot farther and harvest bigger small game once they can cock the Swarm Magnum so I also try to stick with. 22. I hope this helps. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

Gamo, stupidly, is almost the only company (from what I've seen) who isn't putting iron sights on these gas piston break barrel. For that reason I am looking at all the other brands, besides Gamo, to make my decision on one with iron sights included. Gamo dropped the ball. It actually seems like you know and have researched pellet rifles well. Can you help steer me to my next gun which will be my first break barrel, nitro piston gun. I like the idea of the multi shot kinds such as the Gamo Swarm or 10X and the Crosman magfire, hatsan has some too but don't know about that brand at all. Are these multi shot kind just as reliable as the single shot load guns or would you get a single shot load style over the mutli shot first? My concern is the magazines reliablity in terms of feeding and durability? Versus single shot loads that is. Also, as I said, Gamo dropped the ball on the SWARM/10X even the single load style by NOT PUTTING IRON SIGHTS, so that makes me lean towards the crosman magfire, but I like the Gamo reviews. What is your take on Hatsan brand guns? Do you know about the reliability of their single and multi shot brand of guns? They seem to be the off brand of these guys and wondering about their performance, the price is a tad better. I want a .22 that has ability to hunt if need be,. Mostly for fun, but perhaps, maybe to hunt too. I'm trying to stay $300 and below, more in the $200-ish otherwise I'd just buy another powdered charged style of a gun. 😁
