Those truckers who think load has to get their no matter what kill me. What you're driving in NP, but when road is completely white and covered and its still snowing I am pulling over. Your tips are great basic driving tips to live by.

Boy, am I glad you included this extra tip. I've done similar with braking lightly to see if traction holds. MUCH better to accelerate! Guess I would've figured that out eventually, but very glad it's a thing to do if you're unsure about exact conditions. Safety fast .

I am a new driver finished my first solo run from Colorado to Georgia have been shitting bullets over winter driving, grew up and live in the mountains in Colorado, I drive a RWD cargo van in the winter have to chain up to get anywhere. And winter driving in a semi just scares the crap out of me. This made me feel a lot better being able to somewhat know what to expect and I really appreciate your video. It's a big deal to me

Good job...smooth driving...good tips. I don’t know about the chains, but I’ve never been in a situation that really needed them, as I try to avoid roads that bad. Thanks. My dad and oldest brother have shared many things with me in one way or another. Porter Dude of Ohio.

For not being a "professional teacher" your delivery was easy to understand. Even though challenging, winter driving can be fun when you are prepared for any situation. Liked the part about "testing" to know how the rig will react.

Driving on snow and ice on flat and rolling land is easy, just go slow and take your time.. Driving off road or on road on icy mountain roads takes common sense and skill! Working in the oilfields, I have seen 1,000,000+ mile "super trucker" newbies try hauling the 80,000-200,000+# equipment in the horrible weather and road conditions on the goat paths we travel, they went back OTR... They were breaking axles and drive shafts, ripping out transmissions, spinning out, going into ditches (And beyond), getting stuck in the mud and snow, popping tires, bending rims, warping chassis, wrecking and totalling $1-5 million equipment, ECT.. Granted these things will and do happen from time to time due to the conditions, but it common with these highway "Super truckers"!!

When your loaded light or empty it helps to slide your tandems all the way to the rear. Also buy auto socks because throwing iron sucks! Iv been using them for 3 years now and for getting over a mountain pass they work great but you do still need a set of chains in case you need to get around a crappy drop yard or something because chains do dig a little better in those situations.

I had to go down Lookout a couple weeks ago. Idaho was good on the way up, went to shit as soon as I hit the Montana line. No jake, 15mph control speed, stab braking. I was 76,500. It was pretty uneventful, no smoked brakes, just took a bit longer than I wanted to.

I would fart in the direction the truck is heading. The thrust should be enough to slow you down depending on how much Mexican food you eat. Need more thrust? Eat more Mexican food!

Without engine breaks how do u prevent burning up breaks on steep descents ?
@dreday777772 жыл бұрын
@@jsf8145 if you don't drive in the ice you want need the engine breaks
@jsf81452 жыл бұрын
@@dreday77777 What ? You are driving down a steep mountain grade for 10 miles and dropping more than 10,000 feet in elevation. Based on your response, when driving down this mountain slope and there is no ice, then you don't need engine breaks to help reduce your speed when driving down the mountain. So, what you are saying is just keep your foot on the break pedal non-stop to keep your vehicle speed under control and burn up your breaks, eventually losing your breaks entirely and with no engine breaks being applied what is going to stop you, especially if you are driving on ice to begin with ? My original question was, what if you are driving down a steep decline driving down a mountain that is covered in ice, how do you stop?

Mariokenworth w900 I think he wanted more money so he started transporting cars then he quit that gig and went to another company I believe then quit them and went to Ace so he can be home more often. I've been following him for years and he always tells us why he left the company but he deleted his car hauling videos at the request of the company. That is just from what I remember, I could be wrong.

aautssch - grrrößter fehler des truckers , daumen im lenkrad - der gehört nach außen , wenn ein reifen an der lenkachse platzt , kann das lenkrad deinen daumen brechen ! biggest mistake of a trucker is to put his thumb inside the steeringwheel , if a wheel bursts the steeringwheel can broke ur thumb !
