Nice review! My local store has it for 100.00 plus tax. Never tried it. Never seen port or high rye either. The 12yr is definitely a nice pour. I picked it up here in California for 55.00 bucks. I really enjoy the FP and the single barrel. I paid: Small batch 28.00 B in Bond 42.00 FP 52.00 Single barrel 60.00 FP store pick 65.00 All are great! Cheers!

J Mattingly started up again and now has a tasting building near Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, Kentucky. When I was there the prices were $40, $60, and $120, and tasting for 6 samples cost $25. Their new bottles have an 1845 date on them. Two others to check out are Green River in Owensboro, reusing some 1885 buildings, and Glenn's Creek in Frankfort reusing the Old Crow Distillery building, OCD #5 is one of their bottles, the number 5 is for abandoned fermentation tank number 5 from the old distillery where they scooped up some old yeast spores to make their new bourbon.

That is fantastic information. I appreciate you sharing all of that. Glenn's Creek is on my radar. Cheers!

Cheers Peter. I have all the 1792 except High Rye and Port Finish. I am in North Central Illinois. I can find the 1792 Full Proof, Single Barrel and BIB fairly easy. The Sweet Wheat and 12 Year show up 2-3 times a year. I picked up 2 bottles of the 12 Year for $48 each and 2 bottles of Sweet Wheat for $48 each about 4 months ago. 🥃

Another great review. Never seen it in my area. Just the regular 1792. But I rather high proof whiskey, like rare breed, of1920, kc120, jdsbbp. So it's hard to go back, to lower proof stuff. 1792 full proof isn't available.
@whiskeyisajourney14 күн бұрын
There's something about higher proof bottles that bring out flavors that lower proof offerings lack. Cheers!

Seems like most of these offerings are annual releases, at least by me in New York. Very hard to get any of these, except the small batch, for a good price. Most shops have these releases marked up extremely high, especially the 12 year and Sweet Wheat. I saw the 12 year for srp at my local shop a few months ago, so I jumped on it. Never have seen the high rye or port finish around me.

I'm getting the feeling you're right with them being annual releases.

Yo Peter. I enjoy the 1792 SW and you’re right the market floods with full proof and sweet wheat once a year. I’ve only seen the 12 year once and I jumped on it but haven’t cracked it until I get a back up. The whole line is very reasonable and decent tasting. Cheer’s 🥃
@whiskeyisajourney14 күн бұрын
When I see them hit the shelf I am impressed with the price. I figured they would be more based in the rarity of them. Hopefully the 12 will show up soon. Cheers!

Hey Peter, really like your channel. I live in Central Illinois and I’ve only seen FP and SIB, I grabbed both. I’m a fan of 1792. I paid $55 for FP and $50 for the single barrel.

Hay Peter.. yea haven't tried this one the only one I've seen down under is the 1972 Small Batch, I've always past by it the fancy bottle always puts me off, but it's only $90aud about 55sh Usd.. have you had the Small Batch if so thought's 🤷♂️... I'm Sipping the first bottle of the year from my Whisky Club at the moment catching up on all my WhiskyTube on a Friday night 'The Balvenie Single Malt, First Fill Cask Strength 12yr Single Barrel"... Cheers Peter Dram On 🥃🥃🥃

The 1792 small batch is okay. I'd put it right there with Elijah Craig small batch and Knob Creek 9. It's an introductory bourbon nothing special, but easy sipping. Speaking of easy sipping bottles Balvenie fits the mold. Cheers!

Haven't tried wheated bourbons yet. But re: Barton's 1792, have you tried Costco liquors? I got a bottle of their Signature brand Kentucky bourbon once. It was a 1.5 liter made by Barton's for about $25 and was surprisingly good. I have seen a single barrel by Barton's there and I think it was under $30.

I'm in CA Central Coast. I can find 1792 small batch, Single, BOB, and Full proff easy. All at a very reasonable price/MSRP. Also can find store pick's farily easiy. Sweet wheat and 12 year little harder to come by with some mixed results. If secondary liquor store. say around 80-90. Though I go to a store that will commbo them with another bottle. Bottle by itself would make it MSRP and the other bottle usually is a good/decent one. Example a 12 year and a Elijah craig store pick for 140 or Sweat wheat plus a elijah craig store pick for 140. Never seen the High Rye or port finish

you described this way better than I had. I must have had a terrible bottle lol. I found green river wheat, both bardstown wheaters, weller sr all being better. Im a big fan of all other 1792 but the sweet wheat was my least fav. and for clarification I do love wheaters.

1792 is hit and miss in Nor Cal. TW always has the small batch. I have been able to get store pick Full Proof selections pretty regularly for $60-$70. They are usually awesome. There has been a lot of hype on the Sweet Wheat but I have never had one. I am a proof hound so the proof is a bit lower than I would hunt. Overall I think Barton puts out solid products. Just nothing I seek out.
