"Special Anniversary" bottle got me. Even though it's very close to the traditional 101 I think it's worth it. Like I said in the video I found it at Total Wine. I waited a few days and went back and got 2 more bottles. Next year when these are gone (if they disappear) and people are looking for them I will be donating a bottle to Stuff & Whiskey mental health charity event To Write Love On Her Arm. They just had this years event last night and I donated 4 different bottles to support the cause. Cheers!

I would try this blind again when you're not on antibiotics that may be messing up your taste buds. I got the high wheat recently and was so thrilled with how amazing it tastes. I have the bottle and bond but never have thought of it as a weeded because it tastes like a rye bourbon to me.

@@whiskeyisajourney medicines and sickness in general can affect the taste buds. I just got back from a bit of traveling and noticed my whiskey was tasting different to me. I also realized I had a swollen lymph node in my armpit which indicated I had an infection I was fighting off. After that lymph node went down I noticed everything tasted normal again. I mean we even know the food we eat before we drink can change the flavor

Nice vid Peter! I picked up a bottle of this in tucson last year at TW on clearance for $84.99. An absolute steal at that price. Still see them around Az for around $120…that’s been a slight push but still worth a buy at that price.

Hi Peter, you didn't have a Glasgow Blend in your Flight but finally you got the "Phoenix" Blend 😅. As most of times this comparison shows that most expensive whisky is Not always the Best and its good. Really nice and good CB flight with fun aspect. When you do blinds each one might influence the other so I want to have them on their own without comparing each one to the other. They core range is not all sherried…the 18 is the only core range that is sherry forward. And most of their limited range bottles require getting shipped from across the pond cause they dont show up in Az

Love Compass Box. Orchard House is amazing. If you like the Figs, dates, fruits.. Try Art and Decadence. Interesting that you mentioned a ‘tang’ on the finish for both of the new releases.

The 2024 special release Hedonism is in my opinion better than the standard Hedonism, but still overpriced. Haven't tried the other ones you put up there. Gives me some insight into which one to try next.

Oh man. I just got a lead on a Solum #2 for $175. whew that sounds steep but from what I've learned a lot of work went into this Solum series. Solum 1 I also found for $140. I wish these were cheaper as they sound so interesting.

Glad I'm not the only one disappointed with Hedonism. It gets great reviews but I just can't get behind it lol. I even prefer their lower shelf stuff, like Glasgow, over Hedonism. Great video. I was able to guess all of the bottles correctly before the reveal based on your detailed tasting notes. Appreciate the content!

i LOVE orchard house!!! it’s everything that you’ve described. that was the first expression i bought from compass box. quick question though… what year is the hedonism from? i recently saw a bottle from 2022 on sale for $85 and was wondering if i should try it out at that price point.

I've only watched the first 3 minutes of the video and I'm already salivating..!!! 🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃 I have yet to try the two new releases, but the late "Oak Cross" and today's "Spice Tree" are two of my favorite blended malt whiskies. (End of video)... Being an avid Rye drinker, the Spice Tree would have been my top choice of this flight. I do own a bottle of the Orchard house and enjoy it as well. Great presentation Peter..!

@@whiskeyisajourney Joel checked and is ordering the Tomatin 18 from Alberta - always cheaper and AB doesn't have a provincial sales tax - nice!! It's $180 before tax. Not bad. I do love a good sherry cask scotch! Delicious! Bourbon and peat are my jams right now but I am always up for a delicious dram of a sherry cask single malt!! Hope you have some good plans for the weekend Peter!! 🙂

@@whiskeyisajourney Oh no! I’m so sorry Peter. That’s a long time to be unwell. I hope the surgery goes very well. Hernias are awful. You will feel a lot better! I have several close people around me with awful cases of COVID- the new variants are both thought to be worse than usual - so I am being super careful. I have had it twice - once at the beginning of the pandemic - and I was in hospital for 3 weeks needing oxygen support. I have asthma. So masking is paramount and I hope the updated vaccine is available soon. I might go to the U.S. to get a vaccine more quickly. Long COVID becomes more of a risk the more someone experiences COVID. That is not something I ever want. Stay well! I’d mask when in hospital in November. No one is anymore. Much care!!

Nothing is preventing them from that, but Japan put out some guidelines as to what they can call Japanese whiskey. But I don't think there is any reinforcement of the guidelines.

Very heavy on the Sherry, but it's pretty good and it grows on you, here in NC it goes for $109.00 but I got mine on sale for $89.00 not sure if I would replace it at full price though.

I had the bottled in bond version and it just wasn’t for me. the flavor profile or the spice was not to my liking. I was thinking about pouring what’s left into the water pan of my smoker. The high wheat I’m hoping Total wine has a sample I can taste.
