Such a cool nano. So many things going on. I'd call this tank The Wild Thing! I would keep a close eye on those mangrove roots. Those might get out of hand quicker than you expect. Always hard to tell things are growing when they are hidden. If you can see roots like that at the opposite end of the tank you can guarantee that there are lots of other roots throughout the rest of tank also. Can't wait to see more :)

Good choice with the Azure! Such a beautiful little fish - loaded with personality. The mangrove is getting massive! You could get a 50 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank and set up a mangrove specific 'tank' over in the corner by the window. That would give you some room to add in a few more mangroves once they are done growing out in the bucket too. :-)

I'm crossing my fingers! So far the odd seems to be ~1:4 that it'd turn into a jerk like other damsels
@carlosbarba475310 ай бұрын
I had same experience in the past for several times when there is only one fish in the tank and it behave very shy, and my theory is since they do not see any other fish swimming out on open water or out the reef or rocks they assume that there is a predator out there and that's why they don't come out. As soon as you put any other fish they just come out from their hiding place.

That tank has grown on me now because of the elegance. Looks freakin awesome! Are the tentacles touching the raja and have you noticed any damage?
@InappropriateReefer10 ай бұрын
I haven't seen them physically touch yet and try my best to give each other space, as the Raja has surprisingly long sweepers. More so the Elegance, the CSB is parked up against the Raja.. so far so good, but I know this won't last.

I love saltwater fish tank, but i’m a little nervous to start one , I just now learn how to do freshwater without killing any fishes, maybe that’s my next challenge 😅
@InappropriateReefer10 ай бұрын
No worries, once you're comfortable with freshwater, transitioning to salt is not that much more difficult (if you can mix saltwater, you can keep a successful reef tank!). It is quite a bit more expensive though, that is probably where the main challenge is. 😬

Cool update, how is the banggai breeding going?
@InappropriateReefer10 ай бұрын
No action... actually, the male would hold eggs for 2-3 days but never all the way through. Maybe there's still too much action in the 135g.
@MrMushroomish10 ай бұрын
@@InappropriateReefer Yeah could be, i dont think that is the case though. I have bred them many times, and the male usually only swallows if the eggs rot, and it seems there is a correlation between eggs rotting and high water nutrient, mostly high PO4.

Just picked up a mangrove plant from Petco (small 4 leaves). What’s best way to keep alive/grow it out before adding it to the aquarium? Just copy what ur doing near the end?
@InappropriateReefer9 ай бұрын
Yeah freshwater in substrate is the way to go. And make sure the water in the bucket is not cold! Putting it in a warmer location or even a heating pad / heater would be amazing for it. Then acclimate to saltwater when the time comes.

@hardinghopper34410 ай бұрын
I don't disagree but with one part. I like the crowded coral look it's almost like a jungle of course it comes with its downsides, but I do like it. I imagine little crabs or other bottom-dwellers working their way through the xenia forests. However I do see the point made here.
