I love doing this so much! Personally I always plant some pansies or violas on top, so that I have some colour during the wintermonths before the bulbs start to show. Works like a charm! 🌺

Aww thanks so much! Yeah absolutely! Bulbs can be planted in November or even early December, but it's best to have them in pots before the hard frost sets in.

I love your videos. Will use this method and plant more spring flowers on my balcony. Btw, could you please you suggest fertilizer for spring flowers? I assume, that fertilizer should be used in spring. Thank you.

That's so nice to hear, thank you 🥰! Yes, Spring is a good moment to start feeding your plants. All the products I use are linked in the description box if you would like to take a look, and I also published a video this Spring where I explained a bit more about them. But if you are searching for just one great fertilizer for all your flowering plants then I highly recommend Alga Bloom by Plagron ☺️

Hi, thank you ☺️! They are called Bacopa, they are perennial but not frost hardy.

@@17m2gardenThanks for the answer ! I live in Romania , zone 6b. I use to overwinter my plants,- by the way I am an east- balcony gardener too- in the staircase, my neighbours are not bothered😊. I overwinter cannas , pelargoniums (not as beautiful as yours), hydrangeas (yours are gorgeous and massive ), ivys , small coniferess etc and now I fall in love with that bacopa. I have about from 10 degreesC to minus 1 or minus too in the stairway in winter . Do you think I could overwinter the bacopa there ? I had a blue plumbogo for 5 years, which died last year during the overwintering, than I bought a blue - lilac hydrangea to satisfy my love for blue, but I couldn`t acidify enough the soil to keep it blue. And now I saw your bacopa... Will you try to overwinter it somewhere?

@@goctalis3064 Oh that's so cool! I bet your balcony is very pretty! I don't overwinter plants indoors because I don't have the space for that... But majority of my plants are winter hardy in my zone 8b and the flowers in my hanging pots I treat as seasonal. Zone 6 is a very cold climate brr 🥶! But there are some plants that can withstand the frost and still look pretty outside, Ivy is hardy to zone 3 - 4 and so are many conifers, have you tried leaving them outdoors during winter? Hellebores are great for winter flowers 🌸 (there are pinks and purples too!) I think that you could definitely overwinter Bacopa on your staircase. Light frost shouldn't harm them and you can always cover them if the temperatures drop.

@@17m2garden Hi Dominika, thank you for your answer. Yes, I like my balcony a lot, even if it is so crowded, because it is a fraction of yours , much smaller. But the passion for plants is too big, so ....... By the way, you inspired me to try it with hydrangeas, thanks for that. You are lucky to garden in zone 8, you have more options. Last year I tried to overwinter on the balcony for the first time a juniperus stricta and it survived, but I put a lot of bubble wrap around it. We had last year minus 17 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature. I didn`t had courage to let the ivys , because they are in small pots, but I am very tempted to try it this year , of course I will "dress" them warm . I had a helleborus once and it was beautiful in march, april, may , than it looked as it was fainting all the time. In august I planted it in the yard of the apartment block (north facing ) and it is very happy there since about 10 years. I think it was too hot for her. These days I bought a hydrangea exactly the colour of your Bacopa, and if I will not manage to keep it lilac-blue or transform it in blue , I maybe try it next year with Bacopa. I admire how huge your pelargoniums are, they look like hydrangeas . I never saw that big ones. I forget to tell you that I have camellias too. They bloom in april and I keep them in the staircase in winter. Have a lovely evening!
