Would love to see Fenix make a 4 cell 21700 double stacked 2 long so it would be the same width as the 35R just longer. They could go with 5000mah so you would have 10000mah at 7.2v. Could be sweet…

I wish fenix would offer an oven mit for the LR35, it's a HOT Potatoe after 4 minutes of use on turbo. Turbo high is the only reason I bought the darn thing but its run time is so short.
@ToxicityAssured Жыл бұрын
@@coburn_karma No light is meant to be on turbo for very long. Many have trouble not getting overly hot on high. Fenix did ok on the lr35r I think. Six large emitters in a small head must get warm though. Medium and high are both bright. For my needs, turbo is too much most of the time. Fenix always bringing the best. This thing is no doubt way out of my budget right now, but I can dream :) I wish they would FINALLY update the LD22. Still the same old 2015 version (2aa light). That 450 lumen mode for close to 40 hours is the sweet spot if you want to keep this one light for long power outages potentially. Honestly even for that though you can use a much smaller AA or 18650 light and just have... extra batteries lol. This definitely is, shall we say, a real enthusiast light.

Nice review, Harley! I think you chose a good set of lights to compare against. The “stepping up” of the levels for the Fenix lights was clear, and tossing in the Olight Marauder 2 was nice, too. There’s a definite difference in the beam patterns of the lights (wrt the flood setting on the Olight), and given the arrangement of the LEDs in the head, that makes sense. If you’re looking to punch a hole through a thick piece of darkness (cast the beam for a long distance), the Fenix is the clear winner, and it’s no slouch on the spill, either. I can understand your lack of love for the spot beam on the Olight; the aspheric lens treatment isn’t for everyone, but it sure does make a single LED with lesser output throw a nice, tight beam for a good long distance. I think the only other (effective) option for long throw from a single emitter right now would be an LEP light.

While not cheap, you can get additional packs to swap in if you don't have time to recharge. I called Fenix and was able to get a lr80r battery easily.
@MrChamberlaindavidd Жыл бұрын
@@ToxicityAssured I submitted across that little bit of info myself the other day but doesn't it take a micro screwdriver and require you to disassemble the body to swap that battery. Wouldn't be very easy to do in the dark or in an emergency or very quick. And the only price I can find on that battery is like 250 bucks or something. It can be done but it isn't very practical which is disappointing.
@ToxicityAssured Жыл бұрын
@@MrChamberlaindaviddThe light is just two parts that easily screw together in just a few seconds without any tools. I can swap my battery in the dark one handed. The head portion contains all the LED's and driver circuit. The thinner handle attaches to the head. The entire main handle portion is the battery. The main handle part contains the six 21700 cells. The cells can't be removed from the handle tube, but the entire handle just unscrews. So to be technical... The cells are not replaceable, but the battery is easily unscrewed and replaced. This is the endgame of flashlights. I do wonder, however, when looking at the technical parameters table of the LR50R and the LR80R, that the LR50R has 4000 more mAh than the LR80R, but run times are significantly lower. Around half of the run times of the LR80R on all brightness settings, except for the 12,000 and 6,000 lumens modes. Do you have an explanation for this? Is this a mistake by Fenix?
