Completely and utterly agree about this course! - Played many moons ago, but is always in the top 10 courses of the 500 I have played - enjoyability, scenery, playability, friendliness, variety of holes - the list goes on - give me these lovely old courses any day (OK, maybe not when there's hoolie blowing or horizontal rain!) against these modern oft insipid American type parkland courses! - I watch all the usual suspects for course reviews, and I really do like the laid back, no nonsense way that you do it all - well done - Dave Thomas, UKGolftour.

Thank you for your kind words Dave - it encourages me to keep going doing this type of thing. 500 courses is some achievement. I'll hopefully make it to 100 course recordings next year after managing 60 this year. 🤞 I didn't know a huge amount about the course before I played it other than hearing one glowing recommendation, but only finding very limited content online. So naturally it was a course I was itching to play and hopefully the video has encouraged others to go and visit what is a truly fantastic course. I loved every second of my visit there and like you, was taken aback by the course, its views and the smile it, and the people there, put on your face. It deserves many more visitors and respect as it is the true definition of that overused golfing cliché, hidden gem.

I can't definitely recommend Woodlands Golf & Country Club in Bristol. Right by the M5. I played the signature course and it is spectacular.

Love your videos, thank you very much, they have inspired me to play Monmouth and the West Monmouthshire, totally agree really friendly members in this area. What impresses me with your game is the distance you achieve from your swing without a crazy long back swing or indeed without seemingly an undue deal of effort. Are you a tall bloke with long levers?

That's so nice to hear, thank you! I do these videos to remember the courses I've played and hopefully show them in a good light to encourage others to try them out. I'm certainly not a tall chap but do tend to give the ball a thump, so must generate some power on the downswing. I also use strong lofted irons now, so that could be deceptive regarding distance. Great to hear you enjoyed those two super hilly courses! 😎

Your chipping is near faultlesss! any tips, am so inconsistent!

Lots of practice (as a youngster!) That gives you the feel and the imagination to play shots. How often do most folks go to the driving range over chipping?!! Mostly picturing the shot and staying positive when you play/strike it. I try to imagine how the shot would be if I threw the ball and then choose the club and type of shot to replicate that. Hope those thoughts help 🤞

Chipping is my nemesis as well. Am sure we over complicate it at times. Lo e watching your rounds with your knowledge of nature as well

The views are better in reallity ! Can see the clubhouse on top of the hill from my house :-) Only thing missing is a practise area :-(

Hi there. Callaway Rogue ST Pro Irons 5 -AW, X-forged UT 2 & 3 Irons, Mavrik 1 & 3 Wood. Also Ping Eye 2 SW, Original Ping Anser Putter and Dunlop Deltic 5 wood - All over 35 years old!!! Not got round to replacing those yet 😜

I try and do an impromptu course review at the end if I have time and always speak from the heart and have nothing prepared. I had a super time here and hope others can come and have a similar experience ♥ I'm not a great one for talking on course. I'd rather let folks see a course for themselves rather than hear me waffling on about it. I prefer hearing the local ambient noise and try to get that across on the videos. 😊
