Teacher here - His babbling is adorable and he’s clearly taking in sentence structure, but I would encourage his speech by repeating the real word after his babble word, rather than repeating his babble word. If you’re speaking his babble language he will be less inclined to learn a new way to communicate with real words.

i am not a mom but my sister and her two kids live with us. my advice on the new bed is, if he takes nap let him fall asleep where he usually does and then after he’s asleep lay him in the bed. when he wakes up he might be nervous at first but eventually after his naps he will begin to get used to being in the bed. if u wait until he’s asleep before putting him in there he won’t fight it as much!!

I don't have any kids at all btw totally don't know, but I think he might be too nervous so maybe after placing him in the bed, sit in the room and read or do something quite so when he wakes up he will see you and he feels safe, then it becomes a safe place with an awesome new car bed!

I have a 2.5 year old, we did gentle sleep training at 6 months old. He was sleeping through the night by 7 months old and to this day is a great napper and sleeper. He is still in a crib. I don’t think there is a rush to transition unless they are actively climbing out of the crib, at that point it becomes a safety concern. Also keep in mind that you’d have to completely baby proof his room. You would also have to make sure he is unable to get out of his room on his own if he happens to wake up before you do. This is why I think 18 months is a little too young and maybe fostering some independence first by teaching him to fall asleep on his own might be a good first step! Also, I breastfed til my son was 23 months! It was nice to get my body back to myself after almost two years. I get it!

Absolutely DISGUSTING and unacceptable babies should be in the own rooms and beds from day one and should not be getting any kind of milk feed at night past 6/8 weeks old and none at all be 24 weeks old. Also ABSOLUTELY no baby proofing you teach your kids about safety not cage them up like animals

When you start teaching him feelings and how to express them one of the key phrases I used alot working at my old daycare is "use your words" or even saying something along the lines of "okay, why are you *insert feeling or mood*" and "okay, it's okay to feel *interesting feeling or mood* but that's not how we deal with it." then teach him the way you'd like him to handle it. We've used these alot. Another thing we would tell the kids is how grown ups or teacher or mom and dad feel this way too and show or tell them how we would deal with those feelings. That way they understand that they're not alone and feelings are okay. Obviously you would modify it to a more age appropriate level but hope it helps!!

As a mom of 3, I personally would wait to transition to a “big boy” bed. Make sure the crib is on its lowest level. Once he starts climbing and trying to escape, that might be the right time. Transitioning can be hard. They often want to get up and walk around and it may be difficult for him to fall back asleep when he tosses and turns. I’m pretty sure my kids were 2+ before we transitioned. Of course, this was my family and you should do what you think is best. I know you asked for advice. Flynn is so adorable. We live updates! Oh btw, I thought age 3 for tantrums is more intense than 2. I also posted on another video, you should try a water table for sensory. I saw how he like the water in a cup! Keep up the good work, momma!

I just bought my 18 month old a toddler bed that can use his crib mattress. Mostly because I'm really short and it's so hard to manage putting him in his crib and changing sheets etc. Our plan is to only do naps in big boy bed for a while until he's used to it. I'm also updating his room a little while babyproofing

When he goes in his own bed start with just day naps, get his bed to smell like where he sleeps now even if that means you put his blanket and pillow with you and erik for a while, and if needed once he gets used to naps in his new bed then out his bed in your room so that he feels more comfortable not being far away, once he is comfortable enough to sleep in his own bed in a sort of routine then put him in his own room, I keep giving up at the moving out of my room phase as I love him sleeping in my bed and he’s 2 and a half 😂😂

So slightly unrelated but you possibly saved my baby’s life!!! I saw your video a long time ago when you said you had cholestasis and talked about the intense itching. When I was 35w pregnant back in the spring I randomly, quickly got intense itching all over my body with no rash and it was the absolute worst itching, it even kept me up at night. I knew from your video that it could be cholestasis so I asked my dr to check and sure enough it was! They induced me 2 days later because they said waiting longer could’ve been fatal for my baby! So I gave birth early and she is happy and healthy now! But I never would’ve known how serious it could have been without having seen your video ❤️

Sleep is such a touchy subject. My 6 month old has his own room with a nice crib but i still have him sleeping in a pack n play in my room. I get a lot of opinions thrown at me about it but it just feels right for me and him. I’m glad you guys do what makes you comfortable, too. 🙂

Colleen will probably never see this but we transitioned from a crib to a floor bed at 14 months and here's some advice - Babyproof the room like 1000%. Strap all the furniture. Cover all the outlets. Cover all the cords. You'll sleep more soundly if you are certain that he's safe even if he decides to get out of bed. We also got a camera monitor that rotates so we can see him no matter where he is in his room. We decided to let my son have autonomy to sleep where he wants (that's obviously why we put him in a floor bed). He often chooses to sleep on the floor and that's fine. As long as he is safe and comfortable we don't move him. Sometimes if he falls asleep in a position that looks uncomfortable, I wait until he's deeply asleep and go move him back to bed. I will also say that we did sleep training with my son at six months and he is very used to falling asleep on his own and being alone in his room all night. He was also night weaned around six months, though he's still breastfeeding during the day a couple times. Floor beds are great if you still nurse at night though because you can easily just snuggle up in bed next to him and feed him and let him fall asleep and then leave the bed if you want.

My sisters sons 3rd birthday is 16th of june so I wanted to tell you about him. He also loves cars, and always is so exited when he sees anything. He talks a lot, but since he is almost three, he does make sense most of the time. He is a great big brother to his 9month old little brother. He was the reason I didn’t fall into depression and was able to push away suicidal thoughts. He makes me happy everyday and is my forever best friend. He makes me feel like I have a mission in this world and I need to keep going. He makes me feel loved. ❤️❤️❤️

I remember watching your videos announcing the birth of your baby when I was going through a terrible breakup, and watching your son grow and learn and get older over the last 18 months has been so healing and awesome for me because not only do I ADORE babies (so watching your cutie is always a special treat) but it was so healing for me to watch a visible representation of how much time has passed since the breakup and how much I’ve grown (and him) through the last several months. I know it’s kinda weird, but it really was the sweetest and most comforting thing:)

Awwww... pinto bean is such a cutie. No judgement, just advice from a guy whose mom was very protective of him... I know that you will do anything for your son to make sure he is healthy and happy, but sometimes the best thing you can do for him is to let him fall and get back up, because he learns much more that way than if you always hold his hand. This is a metaphorical example, not necessarily literal. And this advice doesn’t necessarily apply to this stage of his life, but you seem like a mother who will be very involved in her son’s life and so I thought it was important to share. I also realize that this will probably be very hard for you to do, but we only learn and grow when we do things we’re not sure we’re capable of. So I would encourage you to make sure that he is not just happy, but also challenged and given responsibilities that allow him to build character and find out who he is.

My bedtime advice that worked for us. Stick to your routine as much as you can. If he gets out of bed, keeping putting him back and don’t give up and put him back in bed with you. They figure out quickly you will cave and they will never want to sleep by them selves. Every time we would not get mad or stay in the room with the kiddos. We just picked them up, tucked them in, said I love you and left. It took 2 nights for my kids to get comfortable with being by themselves.

Transitioning to a big boy bed can be very hard. Make it a fun experience for him, have him help make his bed and do things on his own so its more of a game for him. But if he isnt having the sleeping on his own no big deal, cuddle him and calm him down and place him back in his bed. Tell him everything is going to be okay and do something he likes that calms him down (rub his head or back, sing/hum to him) and remember if he isnt ready to sleep on his own wait a few months and try again (maybe around 2 or 2 1/2). These are just some of the things that i tried with my son ( hes 5 now and he still gets scared about sleeping by himself and he will end up in my bed every now and then to this day.

*Toddler bed* We moved our guy into his new big boy bed because he learned how to crawl out of his crib 😩😩. He just turned 2 so he is a little bit older than Flynn. I would just read and research ways to help make the transition easier for all of you. You’ll have to sleep train him (what I mean by that is helping him fall asleep in his bed, then moving to help him fall asleep independently in his bed, and from there just teaching him how to put himself back to sleep if he wakes up, and the ultimate test and honestly the hardest part is helping them understand they need to stay in their bed). It’s hard work. We’re having to resleep train our son right now and it’s hard. We slept train him before so he knows how to put himself to sleep, but now we’re stuck in the stage of him needing to see us at all times which has made it really difficult but at age 2 they start understanding more of being afraid of stuff (like the dark) and separation anxiety. We’re doing the chair method of moving the chair closer to the door and eventually out of the room. We’re out of the room but he can still see us because the door is open. Anyways! Best of luck❤️❤️

Brings back reminders from when my kids were his age and doing all those same things (body parts, animal sounds, the beginning of small word sentences). And my youngest was obsessed with puzzles at that age. I didn't introduce puzzles to my older boys until they were closer to 2 and half because I didn't think they were ready but my youngest couldn't get enough of them at a very early age. Such a great way to help develop spatial awareness. And he would do them over and over every day!
