That is patently false, though. Many players have beaten the Pokémon games (and thus became League Champion) using a No Items In Battle restriction in conjunction with level caps and nuzlocke rules. Ludwig, Pokémon Challenges, FlygonHD, and WolfeyVGC are but a few such players. Aside from Hardcore Nuzlocking, No Items in Battle is a common restriction to make Pokémon runs more challenging. It’s up there with requiring Set mode and incorporating level caps as a pretty basic way to make even the vanilla games more challenging. Items in battle are broken as fuck but not at all necessary to beat the game.

jacoub farah Pretty much. Though as I said, transferring from gen 3 can be a bit of a pain. It requires that you have a DS with a GBA slot, moving the gen 3 mon to gen 4, then you need a 3DS to transfer the gen 4 mon to Pokemon Bank, and then you can move it up to Sun/Moon
