Lynne, this is my 3rd video today seeing this GORGEOUS New IOD Transfer ! The “sisters” did an amazing job with the New Stamps, Molds and Transfers ! Your projects were lovely! YES…very important to use a top coat on chalk paint….I learned the hard way! AND these Transfers don’t come back off easy! Lovely…lovely Lynne !

Do you have to use sealer BEFORE you put the transfer on? Especially if you use chalk paint. You just answered my question! 😀 Should the sealer be spray or liquid?

Yes, you do. We use a liquid water based sealer like Fusion Tough Coat or Debis DIY. When I use Fusion Mineral Paint, like in this video, no need to seal before because Fusion has a built in top coat.

Thank you so much for making this video tutorial. I've just ordered the same Brocante set of IOD Transfers that you sell at your online store, but I had to buy it here in Melbourne. They cost a lot here - $94.95 to be exact - but they're soooo gorgeous that they're worth it ❤ and you do get a lot of beautiful transfers for your money! I want to put one of them on the front, or maybe the top, of a bedside table that I'm repainting at the moment, but the new paint is Dixie Belle's Chalk Paint in 'In The Navy', so I'm wondering which transfer will show up over the top of such a dark colour. Which Transfer would you recommend? Also, I loved how you used the transfer of the French lady over the decoupage paper, it looks lovely. Did you have to seal the paper before placing the transfer over the top of it? I'd love to do something similar.Thanks again. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia

Wow!!! I’m so glad you could get the transfer, though! It’s one of my favorites. I would choose pretty much any of the light colored transfers or the birds to go on a dark color. I think any of them would give a beautiful effect. I do seal the decoupage paper before applying a transfer. Just make sure it’s dried thoroughly. 😊 Thank you so much for watching!

Lynn... on the piece where you did the oval frame and decoupaged the Monahan paper first and then put the transfer of the lady over, did you top coat over the Monahan paper first and seal that in so that the transfer would adhere better or did you just decoupage the back of the paper and apply the transfer directly to the paper?

I wanted for the decoupage to dry completely then added the transfer. No sealer between layers.

Actually, it was an antique frame that we cut a piece of masonite to fit and then painted it with Fusion Mineral paint in the color Ash.

No, you cannot apply a transfer over a wax finish. The wax acts as a resist, so the adhesive transfer will not adhere well.
