You can demonize Eleanor Roosevelt all you want, but she remains the greatest first lady in history. A true humanitarian! Never a bull-shitting hypocrite like so many others.

You are so right. Eleanor helped with traveling the country and reporting to her husband about the condition of our country and citizens. She also contributed to the establishment of the United Nations and the Declaration of Human Rights. Eleanor does not get the accolades she deserves she did so much 🎉

Especially when addiction was not understood, Betty Ford demonstrated that asking for help to get sober and established an institution that showed it was ok to get help (especially a female = questionable morals) and you can recover to a life of sobriety and that people didn’t have to hide it if getting help

Betty Ford suffered from Alcoholism, which is a medical issue that she received treatment for... Not a scandal in any way... In her younger years, the media attempted to scandalize her marriage to President Gerald Ford, because Betty was a divorced woman from a pervious marriage.

Eleanor Roosevelt also had a problem with the DAR. Marion Anderson (a black performer) was invited to perform at DAR and when they denied her, Eleanor resigned from the DAR. I believe she then had her perform at the Lincoln Monument.

No it wasn't, and since I don't know your age and you could be very young, I just want you to know that it is resigned not re sign. Just because Wilson had a stroke didn't mean that he couldn't make decisions. Like Roosevelt he didn't want to show the nation what had happened to him so that he could finish what he started. I agree with the other person, you need to read more. But also, maturation will help you to understand that some things have to be completed.
