Are you bidding in an internet auction? Or have you already bid in one and have a story or advice? I’d love to hear!

I might be biased but that might be the best tips and tricks video I have ever seen 😂😅 no but seriously, that’s some good advice right there for FREE. Thanks Britta, that was a lot of fun!

I made a list of all the mustangs that caught my eye then weeded the list out to my top 10. Then placed them in order of preference. I had a budget limit and did a proxy bid with my max set already. Also, yes about the time for pen delivery and the jumping. My girl tried to jump a 7 1/2 foot gate to get some hay. So there is that. Utah mustangs… 😂😂

Very cool to see you two collaborating! Not only that, CHECK THIS OUT... The black filly where you illustrated a bad head shot is one of the horses in my 'Favorites' list!!! I do pay attention to eyes and look for a soft eye, but this filly has the terror eye in her head shot. What interested me, though, was the location of her clearly visible whorl. Yep, the whorl, sometimes called swirl or cowlick where they occur on people. I dismissed the whole whorl thing since forever as silly folklore. But just recently, I was borderline shocked that famed animal behaviorist and autistic savant Temple Grandin is 100% on board with whorls as predictive of temperament, albeit her focus is cattle. Maybe more about that in another comment. But the location of her whorl is the opposite indicator of what I would have guessed from the eyes in her head shot - like, polar opposite. Her eyes, appearance and behavior in her video tells a much, much better story! She's not at all over reactive to flagging. She's thinking on the move and perfectly appropriate. Then she shows off a catty move - a crouch and stutter step while going forward similar to a running back faking out a tackler. I've never seen anything like it from a horse that wasn't a performance bred cutter/cow horse. Not gonna lie - I was a little thrilled to see her navigate pressure on the roll in such a way. Another puzzling thing about her listing is her height listed at 12.2, but the height date is 2/11/21. She's clearly 13.3-14 hands with plenty of time to grow, especially with good nutrition. If someone used the height filter to narrow down the possibilities, they'd miss this one. Regrettably, I'm only following the auction after getting a reality check by the lady of the house about already being in over my head. (Damn if the homestead doesn't keep finding new ways to burden me with surprises. Following a storm, add "logger and wood miller" to my resume. It just wasn't in me to let huge old oaks and walnuts rot on the ground or break them down for mere firewood. Plus, the power company surprised us by dropping truck loads of cedars growing too close to a long run of power line, but I have to replace that fence line now. Ugh! It never ends! 😆) My other off hand thought about the auction is the not-surprising interest in the pintos. Of course they're beauties, but c'mon! My favorite color is good mind and sturdy conformation. My favorites list are mostly brown and bay horses.

Haha I always enjoy reading your comments! I’ve heard that about the whorls as well! And yes totally agree, after working with Jaeger, I’ve experienced the impact a plain, but wonderful personality. Personality is definitely higher on my priority list now!

@@TheProjectEquestrian The '2 YEAR OLD BLACK FEMALE HORSE (1839)' you featured as the example of a bad head shot got adopted! I think somebody is going to be very happy with her. I went back through my favorites and I think she would have been my top pick. Looking at her side photo in the chute, her unusually high rear end makes me think she's not 2, but a coming 2 year old at that stage of uneven, front to back conformation. I've heard this can be the case up to 3 years old as well, but I think it's more prevalent, or at least more obvious in the younger ones. When her front end catches up, she'll be a nice sized filly. (I'd defer to someone with more expertise on developing conformation and growth stages.) Yea for the filly with the bad head shot! Very happy to see someone got past the moment of terror eyes photo, drilled down and saw what I saw in that horse. For all we know, the credit might go to you for featuring her in your discussion. Prior to your upload, she only had a hand full of views. By the end of the auction, her view score was 4,768. The high selling horse at $1,805 had 2,089 views. Just sampling view counts on a number of horses, I think Miss Bad Head Shot might have been the most viewed horse in the auction, sometimes by a factor of 9 x over least viewed horses. Hey, hard to write that off to coincidence! 👍

@@jimmyyounger618 That's great! I"m glad she got a home! I should have used her again as my point on the height discrepancy! She would have been the perfect example on that too! I think she'll do well - she seems like a thinker!

I am so glad I let my husband convinced me to bid on my Zäna instead of the bay I was eyeing. My eye kept being drawn to my paint mare and my husband said what’s the worse that could happen? You don’t win her bid but win a different horse on my favorites list. So go for it and try for your dream horse!

Great video! I watched both of your original videos on your IA/adoption videos. It was a huge help for my IA experience. I ended up getting my dream horse even though I didn’t know I wanted a pinto 😂 You both inspired me to make my someday a reality. Even my mare’s name Zäna was inspired by you Marina. She is a challenge, very much like a combo of Zara and Sparrow 😜 I couldn’t be happier with her. She challenges me, melts my heart, makes me feel like the luckiest human, and she is why my dreams of finally having my own horse are better than I thought. I have a couple mustang trainer friends to help me with ideas if I get stuck. That was a great bit of advise for first time mustang adoption. I made sure to select the available horses that would go to where I would pick them up. Then any not going there I didn’t even see. Thank you again!!!

So my idea is go on the internet auction on the last day to find a horse in my category that I like with low pricing, so I don’t fall in love with the horse and if I do I have a really good chance of winning it, cause once I was on the online auction I fell in love with this gorgeous blue roan 15.2 stallion I swear it was love at first sight but I didn’t have my parents approval to bid being really young I was heart broken it felt like my world collapsed he ended up going for I think 457 😅 I think about the guy everyday😢

Checking the photos to verify the height is a good idea. I won the bid on a 14.2 six year old grey mare and when I picked her up she was closer to 13.2 not a deal breaker for me but she’s a little smaller than ideal.

Sadly the pick up sites look too far away. I'm in NY, and wouod need to pick my muatang up more locally. So how do we get a horse we bid on delivered to the East coast, preferably as close to us as possible???

I know I am looking for a perlino/cremello, smoky buckskin, or Sabino overo. If I'm getting only one I want my dream horse. I know they all deserve a great home, and if I could get more than one, I wouldn't be as picky on color. I do prefer shorter horses because I'm only 5 foot tall, so glad to see not all of them are big. So what's a good budget ceiling for a dream horse? $2,000-$5,000???

I have a question you may not be able to answer, but I hope I'm wrong. I live in Italy and in the future I would like to have a mustang, but someone told me that it is not possible to move them from the United States, is that right? Or do they become "normal" horses after a certain period of time and can therefore be moved at will? Sorry for any mistakes, English is not my first language

I believe they have to be a "sale authority" or "titled" mustang. Mustangs are typically adopted from our government as "untitled', meaning that the first year they belong to our government while in private homes. Once they are "titled", they don't have the same limitations on them.
