I did the same with a bonded pair of 16 year old cats a few years back. Just couldn’t leave them behind at the shelter; they were so clearly miserable there. We had three years together and they were the sweetest boys ever! Now I have a ten year old that I adopted two years ago. The poor girl was simply temperamentally unsuited for the busy, multi-pet household she’d been adopted into but she’s a very happy kitty now in a much quieter home.

I learn so much from you. A friend was appalled at my analysis of my horse’s poop as I was cleaning her dry paddock, poking around with the fork. I don’t blanket my mare because she runs warm and she can forage all night long. I recently read an article about lower critical temperature for horses with winter coats and it supports your methods. I have adjusted her feed and grazing times based on ideas brought up by you about sugar. She is now at a healthy weight with a coat full of dapples and I think she has gained an inch at the withers.

Don't forget that vegetable oils and fats (Fats = solidified oils afterall!) let alone animal or fish oils are in simple terms 2.5 times more energy rich than starches and sugars when comparing similar weights of foodstuffs of similar moisture percentages. In simple terms fats and oils are rocket fuels compared to dietary starch and sugars based on calorific values.

Could you consider moving the shelter from the quarantine pen assuming of course that it belongs to you? It seemed to me (in some of your earlier videos in 2024) that it would be comfortably large enough for Pearl as it is a large structure and roof in itself but it is also like Nigel's shelter totally open fronted. Conversely could Pearl happily live for a while in the quarantine per away from a "pestering" Scarlett?

I've made hard decisions in advance of winter, even here in England with our merely chilly, mainly wet winters. You always second-guess yourself, should I, shouldn't I, will s/he, won't s/he ... A pet wether goat/horse companion whose arthritis had made him miserable the previous winter, was let go in his favourite sunbathing spot in mid-September, and I was so happy I'd made that decision as the following winter was long and very, very wet ... Anyone who commented about the 'delay' in worming was _obviously_ commenting from a position of great ignorance. Even all those years ago when I got my starved colt, there was no questiom that I needed to delay his worming! He had to at least start to recover first .... which is why I gave myself the nauseating task of _finger-picking_ his accessible parasites for the first few weeks!

I’ve acclimated hundreds of horses to my ElectroGroom vacuum in the past 50+ years. It’s great that it has two motors - with just one motor on it’s much quieter and has half the suction, so it isn’t as scary to the horse. Once a horse accepts the vacuum, they really do seem to like it. Furthermore, it increases the circulation, which improves a horse’s hair coat.
