Eighteen and Fired Up: Witnessing Quadrophenia film been made.
It all goes back to when I was 18. A trip with mates to Brighton took a crazy turn when we stumbled on a booming film set. Turns out, it was the crew filming the cult classic Quadrophenia, a movie actually filmed in Brighton, UK. Seeing hundreds of mods decked out in 60s gear, surrounded by vintage rides, sparked something fierce in me. Right there and then, I knew: the film was my jam.
Life Takes a Detour: Bumps and Bruises
Life, however, threw some curveballs. Stuff happened, and I ended up on a different path. I tried landing gigs at famous studios like Shepperton and Pinewood but kept getting shut down. The dream felt far off, but the fire never truly died.
A Lucky Break and a Helping Hand
Years flew by, and I eventually found success in a different field, starting my own lighting business. It was during this time that another twist of fate nudged me closer to my dream. A woman I hired for marketing, of all things, used to be a secretary for a special effects company! They needed someone with electrical fabrication skills - perfect for what I could do.
From Lighting to Lights, Camera, Action!
Thanks to this crazy connection, I landed a part-time gig, finally stepping foot in the film industry. The joy was unreal! It wasn't exactly what I pictured at 18, but it was the beginning of an awesome journey.
Working Behind the Scenes: The Movie Making Magic
The film industry is a wild world, and I dig being a part of it. I get to see the magic of filmmaking firsthand, from the crazy set designs to the teamwork on set. Sharing a laugh with crewmates on the set of Ewan McGregor (yup, that Ewan McGregor!) is something I'll never forget.
The Gentleman in Moscow: A Dream Realized
Fast forward to today, and here I am, working on the set of The Gentleman in Moscow! It's surreal, a true testament to the power of not giving up. The journey might've been unexpected, but seeing Quadrophenia filmed at 18 and now being part of The Gentleman in Moscow crew is a full-circle moment.
