My condolences mate. I once took a Mustang for a road trip from Perth to Albany in Western Australia. Mustang GT is great for overtaking road trains (150m+ trucks and trailers). I would love to do the same in the US soon.

Planning a trip in my 19’ PP1 from East Texas to Montana, this vid helped a lot. Got some questions tho. How many Fill ups did it take? If i were to tune before i make the trip do you think that would bring any issues for the trip. I noticed the tire situation and have prepared to buy brand new tires to avoid any unwanted ware and tear issues.
@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI7 күн бұрын
I don’t remember the exact number but I’ll check my spreadsheet for you. I don’t recall it being more than like 7 I believe. Not sure about the tune as I have never done one before. And on the tires, I was running the Cup2s don’t come with many voids to begin with. I still had several thousand miles to go. With that said, new tires for a long trip can’t hurt IMO. Sounds like a fun trip you have planned! Safe travels!

That’s a cool road trip video. My condolences. I just drove my 2019 pp1 manual magnetic metallic gray mustang GT from Tulsa to LA and back. Lots of back road driving in the desert and a trip down highway one along the coast. It was a great drive aside from a cracked windshield on the way home somewhere in Arizona. I think it was 3800 miles total. Fun times!
@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI4 жыл бұрын
That sounds like an awesome trip! Sorry about the windshield. That’s a big fear of mine is getting a chip or a crack.
@iann86424 жыл бұрын
It was really nice. Like you it was a solo trip. The windshield wasn’t too bad, $229 to have it replaced. I did average 26.4 mpg on the trip cruising 80-100 most of the way out there and back. I highly recommend a pleasure trip somewhere like that just for fun. I like the canyons in California and the wide open desert of Arizona. This was the third year in a row doing a similar drive out west. My family says I’m probably the only husband/dad that takes his own vacation during the year by myself. Lol. It’s my therapy. Good luck with the car, enjoy it and remember your friend fondly..... -Ian

Thank you for the condolence. He was a good friend. One who would have appreciated a drive such as this one. As for the Mustang, unfortunately she is no longer with us as well. I ended up selling her last year. I appreciate the interest! I regret selling it very much. They are pretty hard to find these days.

Dump the pilots. I only managed to get 9,000 kms out of mine. Replaced with General GMax ( they come on Saleens and are half the price) and so far I’ve gotten 25,000 kms. Still good for awhile here in Canada.
@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation! I finally got rid of them after about 7200 miles (11587 km) and they still had life left. It was worn into wear bars but these tires could probably a couple thousand more before hitting cords. I decided to go with Michelin Sport 4S. Costco was having a deal and they have 30,000 mil warranty (48,280 km).

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like he was a pretty awesome guy and it was good of you to take the time and make the trip. I'd have been worried about the tires or rain or a flat but...so glad it was without issue. I'm guessing you might be shopping for some new tires already? What are you going to go with?
@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI3 жыл бұрын
I've actually just replaced them at 7500. I probably could have gotten a couple more thousand out of them but there was a deal on the Michelin Sport 4S at Costco and I had to take it.

Planning on driving my 2017 GT from DC to ATL this weekend. Do you suggest I travel with Oil with me? Just got an oil change today. (Rookie car guy here btw) 😂

Unless she's using oil (burning or leaking), I'd say you'd be ok. Unless you plan to take it to the track.

Around how much total did you spend on gas for the whole trip
@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI2 жыл бұрын
Total for the trip was $245.99. The average price of premium fuel was $2.41/gallon.(what I wouldn't give for those prices today! Lol) Total actual miles was 2121.5. And the average fuel economy for the trip was 20.87 miles per gallon.

I would never drive a vehicle with bald tires it's very sketchy
@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI Жыл бұрын
Well, it turns out these tires still had plenty of life left. They're basically made to drive with very little tread and rely more on the stickyness of the softer rubber compound that they are made out of. So it really wasn't as sketchy as I was thinking it was. But they were getting pretty low, even for the Cup 2's.
@jerryrig8648 Жыл бұрын
@@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI I'm glad your safe, it just brought up a memory of my Dad driving on bald tires and how the handling was terrible and scarry but I must admit that the cords were exposed on his tires and they were cheap tires to begin with. @@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI im looking to buy one but how did you talk it down to 43k? Thats such a good deal!
@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI3 жыл бұрын
@@5.2manu it happened to be a leftover 2019 that hadn’t sold for whatever reason. So they were willing to negotiate well in order to sell out. I think people just mainly don’t know about the PP2 or don’t want to deal with the expensive tires that don’t last long for daily driving. It’s a true track oriented car with the creature comforts of a regular GT. I have since replaced the tires with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s which still offer a somewhat sticky tire but have a 30k mi warranty. I say if you find one of these, snatch it up! They’re only going to get rarer from Ford replacing them with the new Mach 1.
