Single-shot pocket pistols were popular among Civil War soldiers of both sides. The vast majority were single-shot although two-barrel versions existed. Most used the percussion cap firing system. A few took advantage of the new-fangled, metal cartridge technology, which made it more convenient and safer to carry a pocket pistol. These Civil War, small pocket pistols seemed to have served the purpose of last-ditch self defense against a charging enemy soldier while a soldier was fumbling with his empty rifle musket while reloading.

@senpyrothewizard817211 ай бұрын
@@parthkhatri6591 Machinery has not crippled man. It has made man able to do far more with far less work than before. While you needed to have perfected an art back in the day, it is not necessary today, as any simpleton who can read instructions can operate a machine. In fact, machines should have BENEFITTED man by allowing the masses to focus on the arts and learning, since we wouldn't NEED to become experts in one field to earn our meals. There will always be people interested in different fields, so we will always have experts and masters, but your average citizen should have been able to become artists, philosophers, hobbyists, and learned men and women purely for the satisfaction of learning a new skill. The thing that has crippled man is the capitalist, who is the enemy of man. The capitalist sees that a machine can do twice the work at half the cost, and fires half his workers so they do the same amount of work while the capitalist pays his workers half what he did before. The capitalist cares not for the harm he does to man, for he only cares about his pockets and the money within them. Capitalism has dooned our people and our planet because the Capitalist has already won. The capitalists who caused these problems will not live out the consequences, so they do not care.

@@chuni5942 it's a long time according to you. In that era, things were not set up for instant gratification. When all the parts are hand forged, filed to shape, polished and the barrel honed by hand, yeah, it takes some time. How do you think the barrel itself is made? It starts out as being pounded into a flat bar while it's white hot, then folded around a tapered dowel until it becomes a hollow cylinder. It's a ton of work, and for it to take a few days to a week is impressively skillful, and back then, that was pretty fast work.
