Hip hop drummers have always impressed me, and that's coming from a metalhead. It sounds so simple, but they can do so much with so little. Amazing limb control

I was about to say the same. Metalhead here and while I can do blast beats and shit, jazzers and hip hoppers impress me sooooooooooo much.

My fav genres would fall into "classic metal"(Black Sabbath) thrash(Pantera), heavy rock groove(Rage against Machine) etc. But, I love Motown, love Zeppelin, love Southern Rock, and any group whose drummer is fucking kicking it, ya feel me?

He says that fill on the snare is a single stroke 7 with the last note missing. Is that the same thing as a single stroke 32nd note triplet? That's what it sounds like to me. Thoughts?
@SilverTheFlame
@SilverTheFlame 6 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Kazanjian I'm just seeing this now, but yeah. 6 notes on the snare, so two groupings of triplets.

Indeed the "magic" to playing in half-time ....forces a drummer to mentally maintain, & hence incorporate both swing/triplet & straight/duoplet into the groove simultaneously. Executing the 3/2 "switcheroo" at any given moment, which ultimately helps establish that ever elusive & highly sought after = flow ..everyone keeps talking about too

I must be getting old. This sounded shit. I liked the sound of the hihat between two snares but the rest of the pattern just felt amateurish and out of time. I'm not saying it wasn't well played for what it was, I just don't hear the appeal of that rhythm.

the groove is undeniably great but the lesson...not so much. was a bit awkward with dude being all "mind blown" and the drummer struggling with parts here and there. wasn't really much of a lesson at all, more like a playthrough w notes and a live groupie
