What a lovely organ and very fine playing by the organist. Well done indeed!

I was at the OHS convention and had the privilege of hearing this absolutely wonderful instrument; in fact, it was perhaps my favorite instrument of the entire convention. I was particularly impressed with the presence of what is a fairly modest instrument in a rather large church. The organ has a magnificent, rich tone. Chris, it was also a delight to make your acquaintance.

I am truly impressed. I have played other instruments from that period. This organ seems ahead of its time.

A really rich and beautiful-sounding instrument. And a really satisfactory stoplist, as well. Wonderful Principals, Flutes, and Reeds. 👍💖

It sounded like the front door of the cathedral was open. It was a little difficult to hear some of the softer stops and the cello transcription.

Thanks for a look at this remarkable instrument, a real treasure. I'm wondering how Roy Redman managed to fit all the additional pipework into the case. New, more compact, chests?
@praestant85 жыл бұрын
Mark Gustus The pedal received a little extra chest work. Manual additions were likely done when the original chests were retabled and space could be better allocated with the building of new toeboards. If not quite wide enough an extension to the chest with a jump slide was likely done.

Have you ever visited House Of Prayer Lutheran Church (2 manual 9 Rank Schlicker 1989 or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church who also has a Schlicker 2 manual but I don't know the vintage. Both churches are in Escondido, CA.

There's a challenge for you, organists - transcribing literature like the Bach Cello Suites, and finding nice sounds and playing it musically. Gotta try that someday.
@pyerceoates96255 жыл бұрын
horsebassoon no need to transcribe, it’s written for bass clef, I’ve played it a few times.

We have an 8' Open Diapason and it "stops" right there ☺️😁 I wonder what the overall dimensions of this whole Organ?

I liked hearing the string & celeste, but didn t hear their name(s). Viola pomposa & Celeste, perhaps.

Is that Midmer as in Midmer-Losh? (Please forgive my spelling)
@OrganMediaFoundation5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Losh brothers bought the Midmer firm in 1924 and named their company Midmer-Losh.

Why was a mutation added to a C19th organ? The Great Mixture seems too bright, too?

Great video, but I wish you would include a full, uninterrupted piece of repertoire to show off each organ you cover. Talking over it doesn't really work for me imho. Other than that, great work as usual! Keep it up.
