A look back at some of the most intense, unforgettable confrontation on 1883.
#ParamountPlus #1883
1883, a Yellowstone origin story, follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. From Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan, co-creator of Yellowstone, 1883 is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land - Montana.

1883 is by Far the best series of all of Dutton series ! Tim Mcgraw as the father Dutton was sublime acting and from all series of the 3 so far it was the character that I loved the most ... Brilliant series 1883 that Tim Mcgraw portraying Dutton father was just outstanding ..

The two most memorable scenes were the Marshal (Billy Bob Thornton) killing the members of the Clive Barker gang inside the White Elephant (which appears to be still going strong as of 2023) and the fight scene between Elsa and the tribal warriors seeking revenge for their dead families. Elsa was the soul and heart of the Duttons. Perhaps if her mama had not made her wear that store bought dress and if she wore her tribal leggings, perhaps she would not have been grievously injured. Great selection! Loved 1883!

Beth is extremely annoying and unrealistic imo but Yellowstone makes tolerating her worth it. The show’s on par with Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Better Call Saul and all of the other great ones. 1883 was incredible as was 1923. Really looking forward to the final episodes of Yellowstone as well as the the second season of 1923.

Yellowstone gets a bit repetitive but some good characters in the show. It falls short a bit with too many inexperienced or non-actors, but actors like Cole Hauser do such a great job it makes up for it. 1883 was great although majorly depressing. 1923 was the best of the bunch imo.

For context I think it's important to remember that there are a LOT of soldiers crawling out of America's most brutal war. They were sick of the savagery and brutality humans bring upon each other. Just because they've a stomach for violence, doesn't mean they indulged or tolerated it. So when I see them cracking heads among murderers, thieves and rapists,..It makes sense.

My wife and I have almost finished the series. The two most powerful scenes for me were the flashback to the Battle of Antietam with Tom Hanks and Tim McGraw. What a powerful scene, beautifully filmed, with few words, as there wasn't a need for many words in that scene. For me the second was the poor German woman who was scalped. When the cowboy put her down, and when he was so distraught about not wanting her to suffer and begging Sam Elliot to help dig her grave to give her a proper burial, and Sam Elliot telling him it was the decent thing to do, and that he'd have to own it and live with it, it brought me to tears. It reminded me as a former law enforcement officer of a particularly traumatic call I had to deal with, and brought me to tears. Sam Elliot deserved an Emmy and an Oscar both for that scene alone. One of the greatest TV series I've ever seen

1883 is a brilliant portrayal of the Pioneers who settled the Great West. Taylor Sheridan deserves Emmys, Oscars and what have you for these superb stories, scripts, screenplays, direction and acting too. As a lifelong Louis L’Amour fan and Collector, 1883 brings the whole Old West to life superbly. Having walked the streets of Fort Worth Stockyards along with many other towns in America as a visitor and one-time resident, this show is really something else. Wish it were available on Prime in India. Along with Yellowstone and 1923. I wonder why it isn’t. Because there are plenty of us here who will watch it.

In the show the characters are protecting an immigrant caravan. It’s explained at the start that the immigrants moved to America for the promise of free land in the Pacific Northwest, which is why they go north from Texas instead of west towards California. At one point in the show they are even offered an opportunity to settle in Colorado instead, but they decide against it because the land in Colorado wasn’t free and they didn’t have any money. Taking a train from Texas to California wouldn’t have helped these people, because they were impoverished settlers.

Firing a revolver from a galloping horse doesn't seem to be a winning strategy. In fact, it looks like suicide to attack someone on the ground who has a rifle. Well, at least the people with the rifles didn't shoot from a prone position or use the wagons as cover. That just wouldn't have been sporting.
