19 Digitrax PR4 | Computer control for n-gauge model railway

Thanks for sharing this video and information. I have been inactive with my Digitrax DCC layouts for a few years due health problems I especially appreciate this being a refresher on the PR4 & Digimon. I have enjoyed watching and relearning many things I practically had forgot !

Hi. Thanks for this video. I hadn't realised that I would need the PR4 to connect my DS210+ to my computer. I'm not at all sure about DigiMon - the codes are all but useless if you have to refer to the LocoNet manual each time it produces a code! It seems that not many suppliers are carrying the PR4 - where did you get yours?

Hey Paul. I think the latest Zephier comes with a USB interface built in (which I think makes it good value). But the DS210 needs a separate loconet-USB interface. I think there are non-digitrax options for connecting a computer to the loconet, but I went with the PR4 because I understand that it has features that make it good for programming digitrax sound decoders. (I now doubt I will be using digitrax decoders throughout but thought I might because they provide transponding which is useful for computer control.) I do not find digimon of any use other than just seeing if there is traffic on the loconet bus. But I wanted to have a play with it before I started using TrainController / JRMI / iTrains which will hide all the details from me, and make it look like magic that I do not understand! I think I got my PR4 from one of the UK DCC retailers. Suggest you look at the digitrax website for a list of UK stockists if you want to compare prices. I expect it will be out of stock in most places - just pre-order it and wait.
