I started watching your videos some time ago. Now I went back to some older ones. I really enjoy watching this. You transmit really cool vibes. Especially the song at the end with the pina coladas got me hooked. If you find that place,let me know. My boat is in Sicily at the moment and I’ll go back there in April. So I won’t be to far away from that dream place 😃👍

@@SailingKawai Glad to hear. It's probably the most difficult decision we have ever had to make. Everything we have purchased in the past has always been a business decisions. We have never bough anything for "us" so to speak, we are struggling. However with each viewing we are getting closer to figuring out what boat is best for us. We saw an 2016 elan 45 which has really taken our fancy, but has some draw backs. The Hanse 445 is still the best all rounder for our budget and for what we want to use it for. Just none in your wood colour for sale, sell us yours? Haha
@SailingKawai5 жыл бұрын
We can definitely relate to that! It was the same for us, only other thing worth this much we have purchased has been property which always seemed like an easier decision. Hahaha sorry but we're quite attached to our boat :) It is tricky finding the light wood and then making sure everything else is right as well! Will send you insta message shortly, hope you're enjoying Croatia as much as we are!

Dear Tracey and Jason. Thank you so much for sharing your videos and insights. I am in the process of searching for a boat to buy and sail de Med like you guys. You mentioned that the engine of your boat only had 500 hours. Do you mind sharing the age of the boat? and also, I always assumed buying a boat in Turkey meant one that was a past chartered sailboat. Are there opportunities like your boat with no chartering history? Thanks!! Ariel
@SailingKawai3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ariel, thanks for getting in contact, sorry for the slow reply. We noticed a mixture of charter and personal boats. Usually the price is a great indication. I always had a variety of questions for each broker, asking this exact question with engine hrs etc. Our boat is a 2013 Hanse 445. There is definitely opportunities like our boat, you just need to be ready to act when they come up. We had a choice of 2 in Turkey, both great buys at the time, but both sold quickly. Hope that helps and best of luck :)

Hello! My wife and I are planning to do some sailing in Croatia next summer. We've been warned about the corruption in Croatia and wondered if you encountered it during your time there. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks, Mike
@SailingKawai3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, we also read this and were concerned when arriving in Croatia. What we found was that you just need to be really organised and have a plan. Croatia is strict when checking in and out but if you do this immediately on arrival and departure you are fine. Research free anchorages in Croatia and you won't have any surprises. All very positive from our end. If you have further questions please ask, enjoy the trip :)

I bought a book which has been my bible to find beautiful achorages (The Best Adriatic Anchorages - Braslav Karlić, English version) I bought mine at the harbour master in Kut, Vis.
@SailingKawai5 жыл бұрын
Hello :) ah okay, sounds like a good book to have. We have been relying on navionics and the internet which has been a little hit and miss in Croatia, although every anchorage we have been to so far has been beautiful!
@tip00former15 жыл бұрын
wow, those tags looked terrible regarding going upwind. Is that the boat? You should get at least 45 degrees with this boat right? No critique 😎
@SailingKawai5 жыл бұрын
Hello! Haha, yeah you are right, our boat can do better however we sacrificed some angle to get a better direction into the swell which made our speed a bit faster and more comfortable. Plus the wind kept changing direction made it a little more tricky. Thanks for watching and your comment :)

Hey that boats quick ! What are you doing about visas long Term ? Any solutions to the EU Time limits for cruisers ? Thanks great work
@SailingKawai5 жыл бұрын
Hey John! Haha yeah she can be! No, no solutions at this stage, we just have to move between Schengen and non Schengen areas which was part of our plan any way so it's no worries. I think if we wanted to stay longer in places we may be able to apply for long term tourist visas but we haven't looked into that. Thanks for watching :)
@tihomirrasperic5 жыл бұрын
@John For Croatia is 90 days, then you can move to shengen zone (Italy, Greece, France, Spain) and there you can stay 90 days. and then you can return in croatia again ;), and all over again (no any paperwork needed until Croatia become member of Shengen zone) or you can apply for 1-year Tourist Visa, but you must have to convince the local police that you have money (70€/day for Croatia) for living here if you not work Tourist visa is not work-permit so if they found you in illegal work you will be deported from EU and get min 2-year ban for entry in all EU Country's www.mvep.hr/en/consular-information/visa www.expatincroatia.com/types-of-visa-in-croatia/
