Or just study... Or the quick and easy switcharoo. Write all your notes on a sheet of white paper and switch it out for the blank one you get given along with your exam. Works so well as you just rub out your finely written notes as you use them and it looks like you're working normally

1: Teachers aren't stupid. They'll suspect something's up if they see a student pulling out a piece of paper from their pen or if the student is constantly looking down at their lap.. And 2: Most teachers will make you clear your desk of all items other than a pencil and the test materials (so the pencil case thing wouldn't work).
