That's a very good term for it. Multiple uses, but it's a bit crap at them all. Nice in theory, but in practice you'd be better at taking decent travel versions of dedicated devices that you'll use, rather than an all-in-one that's just no good at any/most of them.
@DerekSmit5 жыл бұрын
One travel gadget I really like is travel bags. It's a set of 6 or 12 different size zipper bags. So you fill one with socks, one with shirts, one with underwear, etc. It really helps keeping your luggage organized if you travel longer and visit multiple places/hotels.

For the blanket, I use a down puff jacket instead. I have one from Old Navy that comes with a pouch that turns the jacket into a neck pillow when not worn. Compacts perfectly without much effort. You could easily stuff this jacket into your carry-on outer pocket(s) and skip the neck pillow option.

A coworker came to the southern Florida office I was at from the California bay area. He hung out in the shade next to a pool for a while. He got a bad Sun burn even thou he spends a lot of time in the Sun at home. So yes water can reflect UV and both Florida and Hawaii have much stronger Sun than Las Vegas or Nothern California. Lattitude matters 😎.

When I was in middle school most backpacks had a reader similar to the UV card in one of the straps. It was really nice because even if as a kid you didn't use it much, if your mom or teacher cared they would just look at your strap and tell ypu to apply sunscreen! As an adult it would be nice to have that device (it was tiny) as a keychain!

That sun gets more intense as you get closer to the equator. When I went to Death Valley California it was around 112-120, but when I went to the equator on a ship it got to 120-127. I could feel the intensity the second my skin hit the light. I just used the redness on my arms as my UV card. My arms may have changed colors quicker too ;)

I have a similar blanket but it's fuzzier and it has a pocket for your phone so you can listen to music. Comes with an inflatable pillow that you put in the case that holds the blanket, super easy to fold. I can't remember the brand. I traveled with that around the world.

I need that travel blanket!! Last time I flew home from Singapore, my second flight didn't supply blankets like the first flight, and that plane was FREEZING!! The sun in Hawaii can be brutal during certain times of the year. Fair skinned people are wise to just stay out of the sun from 10am to 3pm or so. We can have maximum UV's from May through Sept. My old Samsung Note 4 actually has a UV sensor on it.

Really enjoy the reviews. Would guess the UV meter only gets the direct sunlight when held up, probably doesn't account for what's reflected off water. On the inside of the carrier on the carrier itself you have printed instructions on how to refold the blanket for open or confined spaces so that it fits neatly and easily into the package. $39.99 should make a nice profit on something like that.
