I was working in N. British Columbia, Canada when the outbreak was made public, and had to return to Vancouver on the S. W. coast. At some point, I heard another person singing publicly, which made me weep as I did when my mom died in my arms. When I heard you sing tonight, I felt the heartbreak and love for life, for music, art, everyday movements of life, which many of us have presumed will be there tomorrow. I cry, not because I feel hopeless, but because I know that our presumptions that lives will just continue is not one that we should ever make. Every day is a gift, every life, every song, the beauty of Spring .... Thank you.

Also, where I am at, people have made this pandemic so politicized instead of neighbors just being kind to one another as we all try to get through this. Mozart is my Bae and no one will ever change my mind on that but there are times that the real, down to earth, human experience expressed by composers like Puccini is what your soul needs. Like, sometimes, universal truths like physics, math, and Mozart don’t heal you the way the flawed, imperfect, human experience can make you feel that glimmer of hope. This reminded me of that.
