You focus on maximizing your work day. My wife and I do something similar with our non-work time. If we decide to eat lunch out, we usually leave home after rush hour and arrive at the restaurant around 1:30 PM or 2:00 PM - after the lunch rush. Or we plan to have supper out starting around 4:30 PM, or after 7:30 PM.

This is a really important advice. I think that everyone feels that sensation of getting stuck at some point. Thanks Master Tim!

Tim: "I am not very effective in the morning." Me: "If I want something done, it better be before 8.00am, or chances are it ain't happening." (meetings, discussions, workshops, design-sessions, ... . the only time I can actually code is before anyone gets to work)

Yep, different people are different. I have a friend who used to get up at 4am in order to get things done. I would prefer to stay up until 4am to get them done.

Awesome talk! I find meditation music generally works well for me, but sometimes I plug Queen in and let it rip 😊 Really depends on my mood. I'm lucky to have a very quiet environment and work for myself (I'm 62 and I've spent about 5 years working for others!) and work from home.

Hey Tim! Great advice. I also use OneNote (I'm into the PARA methodology from Tiago Forte). Did you know that with Loop components, you'll have Kanban boards embedded into OneNote? You may already have it under the "Insert" tab being in the US. Anyway, this video landed in the perfect moment where I need to get my rhythm for real because I'm hustling quite a bit. Any tips there (to find your own)? Also, advice when you're getting yourself into a peak of work?

Try different things. Monitor your results. So, try working hard at different times and seeing which times come the easiest, which times are the hardest, and how much time you get done in each. Also, try different techniques such as Pomodoro or Kanban or 2 hours of lock-in so that you can figure out how to get the most out of your time without burning yourself out.

Very interesting Tim. The trouble is that in a corporate environment, you're treated like you're on a production line gutting chickens.

Absolutely. There are small things you can do, and a bit bigger ones if you work from home, but you aren't going to have total freedom in most cases.

Been there. The worst was when I was on a plane with noise cancelling headphones doing work. I was playing music in my headphones. My wife nudged me because I was singing out loud to the music while I concentrated. I didn't even realize I was doing it.
