190 ZONGSHEN Retaining Washer Fix!?! WPB 190 BEAST

This is the 3rd time now ive had this problem. Previous times the repair worked for a few hours then starts jumping out of gear, mainly 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Now with thanks to a few people giving me this information i have sourced a retaining washer to hold the selector arm in position and hopefully stop it jumping of the frog thing.
Hopefully this is a permanent fix and not just for a few hours.

I told you about this a long time ago at least you got to it and didn't just give up the shift star mod is a must you can also reshape the star with a file and some sanding so it shifts a little easier. you also can put stronger clutch springs from a Gixxer to wheely easy.👍👌✌️💯💪

Can you actually put gxr spring in it, what gxr is it?

this is a common problem mate, many people make homemade washer retainers of different thickness washers. have you ever pull the rubber insert in front of the front sprocket under the otherside under the cover? there is a shift star tension bolt under the rubber insert to help align the shifter, look up pitbike shift star tension bolt on youtube and it might help solve your problems...love he videos

I'm quietly confident I've done 2 hours on it using 1st and 2nd hard and not once has it jumped, I missed a gear myself but not jumping out . Technically it can't jump as no room under washer. More testing, like I said I'm optimistic ive ordered some nice tyres and been looking at other bits. Hopefully get they all going properly once and for all. Search on eBay for pit bike z190 5 speed shifter mod 190cc. Icant add link for some reason. This can be made with normal washers for cheap but this is all ready to go, long bolt the lot.

@@TEKKYTWO the stock levers on these pit bikes are weak, first thing I done to 190 apart from magnetic sump plug and hour meter . They shouldn't break, maybe bend if you crash hard.

Thats good to hear what did torque did you do the washer up, I just did tight as no specs. My concern is that may come loose if not torqued right ? Thanks for info you and a couple of others mentioned this fix to me, much appreciated 👍

Don't think it's WPB fault to be fair , I personally think all the zongshen 190 engines need this fix , I've seen this issue on multiple bike on KZbin running this engine, They should all get recalled

Yes iagree with that but wpb could have sorted this and its upto them to ensure their products function properly. Zongshen could also sort this easy enough. Why they haven't is a mystery 🤔

Yes z190 engine has issues but can be fixed but should not be owners job. Factory stuff. Nice bike and hopefully get some use out of it now

Great vid mate and really hope it’s fixed now also think a carb upgrade would be good they have stuck a cheap jinke carb on it seem to bog a bit I’ve adjusted the mixture screw but no change do you find this as well especially when in first at high revs

It does bog in high revs a carb is a good idea for starters once I get some decent tyres on it. I might have to mention in a vid and see what people recommend as I'm unsure exactly also just ordered a uni air filter. Hope so too im quietly confident but time will tell.

Thinking of buying the zongshen 190 engine to replace my detroit 170 for a bit more torque. From your experience with both bikes isit worth paying 800 for the 190 engine with all problems fixed by ooracing. TIA

my zs190 is brand new zero miles. Im able to shift into all gears when the engine is not running but when it is running i can only shift into 1st. have to turn engine off the shift anywhere else. I know it isnt the shifter hitting the case and i have adjusted the clutch cable and clutch arm so therea few mm to zero slack before it engages. do you have any other ideas?

To be honest I was just trying to repair quickly and test. Its seems fine at moment. That vid caught me in a bad frame of mind lol not thinking straight about it. Thats why left for some time before I tackled it.

Correctly weighted fly wheel, 212 head and piston kit. Also quite few other stuff for 190 on ooracing. Carb and racing ignition. Just looking at moment and researching options

Same problem mate that I had you need to fit or check it has a retaining washer. They fixed the issue on newer models I thought

If the washer is on and you can see gears working and nothing is loose as some do loosen up. Then maybe clutch cable is not right. Difficult to say but I know on these if not correct tension it is hard to change gear especially if not moving and engine running

They say they've fixed it yes. Nope standard arm as igot a retaining washer to hold it in place

Steaming will be just from the water going on engine. I assume its been raining lots near you. Mine does it in this weather

Hi mate, we run the engine in the garden without it going anywhere and it still creates steam so we are not happy with the bike at the minute, can you confirm where the oil level should be on the viewing glass (after an oil change)

Did have a recess for bolt if I remember right. Looked good anyway. I known a quite a few this ha ,resolved but 1 or 2 it's not fixed and I guess they got knackered gears now so went to far with it jumping. I've had many people message me in last few weeks saying they purchased only weeks ago and same problem ? And only 3 people saying there's is ok, 1 mentioned tin retainer was useless in 1 so I'm getting mixed feedback, 90 percent with problems with new purchases from wpb. Maybe they got old stock to clear 🤔.
