1900s USA in 39 Rare Photos [COLORIZED]

See what everyday America looked like 120 years ago in these stunning color photos!
Welcome back to The History Lounge! In today’s video, we have the pleasure of delving into a treasure trove of rare old photographs from locations all around the United States. These photos are all over 100 years old, taken near the turn of the last century. And today, we’ll be seeing these vintage scenes for the first time in stunning color!
At the time these photographs were taken, most Americans were lighting their homes with candles and oil lamps, getting around via horse & buggy, and communicating with one another through letters, telegrams, and face-to-face conversations.
It’s fun to look back at these simpler times and consider how the lives of these people were so different from our own - and yet, similar in many ways as well.

Everyone of my great grandparents, grandparents and parents helped build this country, from railroads, mercantiles, butcher shops, hardware men and restaurant supply companies. They didn’t complain when they used their hard work and hands. They earned their money.

​@nvs4u2 :Gen zers. I watched a utube vid not long ago where some young woman said "why should I work, I'll never be able to own a house." Funny thing is, when I was her age all I thought about and was happy with was a roof over my head, food to eat, money to make my four yo USED car payments and a few beers after work and maybe a few on the weekend. It was never about acquiring wealth, property or material trappings. Talk about a generation of silver spoon fed spoiled ungrateful brats!

Thank you to the Lord for showing historical photos of the USA. I watch with great pleasure. I discovered not long ago that my grandfather's brother came to the US around 1898. He was Polish and came from Poland. I did not know this before. Thanks to your photos, I can imagine what kind of environment my relative lived in. Greetings from Poland.

Thank you ,the reason is my great,great grand parent,grand parent publish a book about their self's ,I seen that book when I was a kid,I book is somewhere lost,a great deal of my family died,I just wanted to know my family's history for my childrens,my kids are in the armed forces ,they so fucking stupid on bull shit ,that they are dumb,but that's ok,I do know this that life goes on and when the musical chairs all be removed,my life will stop,all I can say is thank you GOD for the ride,I have paided my way,so if you have more rare footage ad to the collection,THANKS.

The masses main concern ....getting clean food and water...a shower and a clean bed to sleep in...that's about it really....similar to today without all the distractions and information ovetload!!!!

@@keithbrown8814 Those are some the basics, but certainly not the whole story. Wealth, that is money for the most part, determine who got what. Education, entertainment, politics, and the arms race of technology added many nuances and challenges to self fulfillment. Many did without what we take for granted, because they were rare, difficult to obtain, or expensive resources. But like you said, similar to today, but without the instant information overload.

I would encourage you to create a series of picturesque coffee table books with these colorized pictures of the various times that made our American history and culture. The 1900s, 1920s, the great Depression, skid rows, gas stations and diners. All of it. These photos are engaging as well as historical. No glorified Hollywood. People as we know them. Just suggesting.

Not ONE person dressed in their Walmart special of pajamas or sweats (or the 1900 equivalent) & men seemed to not only always wore suits & a tie, they donned their hats as well. Congrats, There was a black schoolhouse, kids and teacher, black workers in Florida, and an Emancipation Day Parade. Maybe a black man operating the Loop the Loop ride. Did you get complaints or were black Americans systematically removed by 1930? Not one person of color in your1930's Rare Photos array. I was hoping to see one shot from Negro League baseball in the 30's. You colorized photos while you de-colorized 1930's American society. I took some heat at the 1930's video for noticing the exclusion.
